Does anyone have a magic trick for removing vinyl floor from concrete? I am scraping it up with a mutt, and it is going painfully slow, I almost think I could do it just as fast with my fingernails. At this rate, I am going to be at this forever.

Heat. Using a heat gun will soften the adhesive making it easier to remove. Just make sure you heat it not burn it.

There's been so many posts the past 2 days that by the time I read them it's way past when the were originally posted. That said, I just want to catch up a bit by saying congrats to anyone on new chicks, jobs, pigs, grandchildren and more. Sorry for any losses or injuries. Happy birthday silly. Great pics, even your wintry one Taprock! And hello to all the newcomers.

I'm sure there's more, but just too much to remember.

Now, DH has a new question he would like me to ask. This time it's about hogs. He would like to know if anyone uses a natural type of parasite control for their hogs? Have you found it to be very effective? Is it just as or nearly as effective as using standard ivomectrin (sp?) He's asking because his concern is that by using the ivomectrin that the parasites would become resistant to it over time and become 'super-parasites', if you will.

eta- Olive, DH really likes your pigs and is thinking about them for our next ones.

There is a bug that can be ordered that is called "Predator". Horse people use them to keep the flies down. Predators eggs are mail ordered to you and you put the eggs on the piles of poop. The Predator eggs hatch, eating the eggs laid by the flies. It is a totally natural predator to flies. I don't see the difference if it is pigs or horses, though you would probably want to look into it further.

Quote: I am a groomer and I am sad to say that my bichon was grey last night...We have a long dirt driveway on a dirt road... I he just can't help himself. Gotta roll on all that fresh dirt!!! Noah was given to me by a customer that didn't want him anymore and Gunny was rescued from a humane society in Lake City. A neighbor that I groom for calls our dogs Dirt Road Dogs because there is little use in keeping them long and beautiful... they just go roll as soon as they get outside.
My bichon Diva doesn't roll around outside. If she lays down...it must be either on the cement or the deck. My DH knows when to cut the grass because she won't walk, pee, or poo on long grass. So she does her business in the driveway. Grass can NOT touch her whoohaa.

I'm pretty frustrated, but not quite ready to set my basement on fire yet.

Sounds like a great way to go about it. Sure do wish I had a heat gun.

Maybe I will try sharpening up the mutt. It's not doing crap.

i was going to say heat gun also... I used one to take up vinyl out of an old make shift office at the old house....

Well I went on down to Allegan to get the chicks. I got 3. One was only just hatched this morning! SO, just as cute as could be.
1 blue, 1 black and 1 splash...
OH, and Leila's other baby finally is all the way out and fluffed by the time I got home. YEAH! I had to pry the egg shell off of Mama though. LOL. I do not have a pic of it yet, as its just 2 hrs out maybe...

The blue baby, not even a day old yet...

It doesn't look so blue under the garage light. Leila smushed him under her the minute I set him down in front of her face.

This guy, I am not sure if hes just a darker blue, or if he's going to be black by the time he loses all the baby fuzz. He is actually a week old, and the same size as the Wyandottes that are with Leila.

And the maybe I shouldn't have, but I did, and IF if need, I will put in a brood box with the above cutey patooty...
An almost 2 week splash. Leila accepted this one too.

It is only slightly bigger than the Dottes, but that will not last long!

I have no idea what sexes they are, so just in general referred to them all as he's. We will see what happens.

I couldn't get the pullets.. she had already sold them yesterday. BOOHOO. Roger is just going to have to wait...

Since you don't have a heat gun you can try your iron. Put an old t-shirt between so you don't accidentally melt the vinyl to the iron.
