OK my multi quotes are coming up double again.

Juise.....glad to know they don't like live things....lol As for the owl, I'm going to keep an eye for it. Hopefully I can get a pic and post it. It was awesome to see.

Opa.....as for cowboy boots I totally agree that they have to fit properly to be comfortable. Brand also makes a big difference too!!

I went back and reread the post about cowboy boots being useless. If you have ever had a low heel boot go through a stirrup you will find yourself wishing for a cowboy boot.

lol....spoken like a true cowboy! My DD always, always, wears her boots when in the saddle!

Juise, I'm right there with you. Barefoot. Muck boots if that's not safe. Vibram Five Fingers if I have to wear "shoes" in a place of business. And the slip on flip flops for easy on off.

Oh man.

You! Will you explain this to me? Flip flops seem to be a popular fallback for a lot of "barefooters". I don't get it. They have stiff, thick, inflexible soles, and a thong to go between your toes. I have always heard that having anything go between your toes can be the most damaging thing you can wear on your feet. What is the appeal?

Have you ever tried five fingers?

I haven't, and for a couple reasons, really. 1.) They are bleedin expensive. 2.) While I think from what I have read that they might be better than many shoes, I don't think any shoe is better than your feet. I don't spend all that much time anywhere that I am "required" to wear shoes, so I don't worry too much about the pair I wear for that small amount of time. I try to wear whatever I can find that has the thinnest, most flexible sole, and plenty of room to allow your feet and toes to spread as they should, but I don't think any type of shoe would really have that adverse of an effect on my feet for the amount that I wear them.

Do you know that you can highlight and delete quotes you don't want? I do it all the time, because the kids fry my brain all day long, and if I don't have a reference I can't remember what I was going to say.

Hope you can get a pic! I would love to see it.

Juise,

The flip flops are rare. I have the kind that doesn't go between the toes and just wraps the ball of the foot. And I really only wear them if it's too much trouble/not woth putting the muck boots on but I still need something on my feet. For example: the dog is stuck in the nettle patch or back in the cattails and I don't know what's buried out there. Basically when I need to slip something on that DOES have a protective sole but I can throw away if they end up gnarly.

For those cowboy boot proponents, I will admit they have their use. But anything with any kind of heel gives me weird cramps/visible knots on the outsides of my legs just above my ankles. I'm happiest with no shoes at all.

Good Morning,

Coffee is finally going after being up numerous times dealing with the 4 year old who was awake with a fever overnight, we will see how long this last. Time to go poor a cup and treat myself to a splash of honey. Everyone must be having a good Saturday night, I woke up to find I was only 50 or so post behind.

We have made veggie chips using eggplant thinly sliced. We coat them with a little olive oil, salt and our favorite spices (garlic and basil). I don't cook directly on a cookie sheet, I use a cooling rack with the veggies placed on it, and then put the cooling rack on top of my pan to catch any drippings. All of the ovens over here are convection so it helps allow the air flow on all sides of the chips without having to flip the chip and seems to speed up the process.

Chickmate: thanks for the welcome.

I think the whole "almost barefoot" thing is cool with them, and it's why I tried them originally, but what keeps me coming back is actually how my feet feel after I take them off. It's incredible. No matter what I've been doing it's like my feet have been to their own personal spa all day.

What does everyone think about building a coop on cement then filling the run with sand?? Good idea bad idea? personal experience? hard to clean? needs replacing how often?
Burning poison ivy is an extremely bad idea. The oils are carried in the smoke and can be inhaled with bad results.

Ohhh, that's a good idea. Gives me something to do with all these eggplants I planted even though no one likes them. I have a dehydrator, too, and it is great for all sorts of fruits and veggies. And placentas.

You know.... you sure make them awfully tempting!

I stayed awake until 1am reading a novel by C.J. Box and I would have thought that my internal alarm would have consider how much better it would have been to have gone off at say 730 or 8am, but nooooo. It awakes be at the usual time, the time my friend in Scotland refers to as stupid o clock.

But the solitude of the hours before sunrise can be good to allow me to think about what the day is going to bring, what projects do I need to work on, and what are the realistic chances of completing them.

I have sure been happy with how my honor system pricing for my egg sales have been going so far this year. I have a sign that states that feed costs have gone up to where it now costs more for my hens to produce these eggs than you can buy them for in the store but I feel the freshness is worth the expense. Please help share in the feed costs and leave what you feel is fair. So far people have left from $3 to $5 per dozen.
