Ok,.thank-you....That stupid LG has me SO gun shy.......but I trust you, so I WILL walk away. :)

I am really looking forward to having a hatch that has more.than just one lonely surviving chick! That's how the last two attempts turned out.

Stick a .22 down there and shoot him in the head. The barrel will fit right up to/through the holes on the livetrap. No need to handle it until it's dead.

x 2 They will bite and tear you up, and if you release him he'll come back. I used to pity and kind of like coons, until i lost my first flock to them. Not only do they come back, they will group together sometimes when they have little ones, to teach them how to hunt. That's what happened to me. DH and friend killed almost a dozen of them the night after the attack, i had one roo left and they came back for him :( Most of the coons were tiny ones, i felt so sorry but once they know where you are, there's no stopping them otherwise :( They walked past a full bucket of grain and went in with my goats to do this, while the guys were circling the woods looking for them. (The first night only one chicken was killed.) DH couldn't get over how many chickens were killed when he was so close. I only have the last roo because we put him in the camper, and thus the beginning of my camper coop.

No pity!

I get it. I tried the whole make your own fad before buying the 1588. What a high-maintenance disaster that was.

Just put some eggs you don't care too much about in the first time -- some from your own flock, or free/cheap ones and give it a chance to do its thing. Occasionally there'll be one that need some tweaking, but most are set pretty darn well right from the factory. Good Luck!

All this talk of bators just made me realize, Since I sold everything I own I'm not going to have a need for mine after I'm done hatching these turkey poults in a few weeks. If anyone else is in the market for a 1588 and auto-turner shoot me a PM. I won't be done with it for another few weeks, but once I am it can go. It's been used a lot, but it works well.

DH built my brooder box yesterday! A few more things to do on it today and it'll be finished. He may even make a second one for me since we have enough material left over. (I won't hold my breath though) I did notice that I should have had him build something along the bottom to keep the bedding from falling out, but I think I can make something work. He put slats in the center so I can slide a board down the middle to divide the box if I needed to.

ohiki - they look really cool! I'm getting the rare uggos, and don't want to corrupt my flock getting something else...

(the pine in the lower left of the second photo, is a natural bonsi tree, it's almost 30 yrs old)

Friday DH and I drove to Lansing and got our ears pierced (well, re- pierced) I know some people don't like it, but I've wanted plugs for a long time. Just small ones, nothing too crazy, so we both have bigger holes in our heads now.

I came in to work this afternoon to do a project.. I hate coming in on the weekend. But at least it's all my choice to do this, I'm not forced to.

Have a good weekend...what's left of it

Yes do shoot it, then don the proper gear for photos!!!

Please DON'T take it somewhere and let it loose... you'll just make it a problem for someone else (or one of us!). There is NO shortage of coons in the world!
