RaZ, you need to find some family that has a tug boat sandbox/pool from little tykes. My ducks LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
Why in the world would I want that in my yard?

Nova, I hope you figure out what's wrong! Yikes. :(

Well the Scovy girls decided that after being caught with a fishing net, jammed in a cage, shoved in a bin and the 2 hour car ride they aren't having any of this "Stuck in a pen" thing. They're loose. Hopefully they like it enough here to stick around! The drake's still in with the turkeys.

Can we really blame them? I bet with the pond they'll stick right around. :)

If I used an English saddle I might windup buying "proper" English riding boots with that little 1/2 heel. Then that could lead to wearing them poofy looking pants. Can't envision riding the range in jodhpurs; they just don't project the proper image. Next I'd probably have to quit wearing a cowboy hat since it wouldn't match the rest of the ensemble. Without my cowboy hat no one would know me. Hell it would probably confuse the dog and she'd bite who she thought was a stranger and I'm not going to beat my dog because you don't like cowboy boots.

I was curious about what the rules are for keeping animal hides here in Michigan. I read the DNR site a couple times but nothing really made sense to me.
If you kill a pest animal, are you allowed to keep the hide and do what you want with it, or do you need a license of some sort?

The only guns I've shot were made by Nerf, so I'm not all that well versed in hunting and such. I'd like to learn more and perhaps take it up someday, as well as learn simple taxidermy and leather work.
Most pest animals' pelts are not worth keeping except during their season. But I didn't need anything to send it in to be tanned. My brother started in high school with trapping and taxidermy. He makes very expensive fur blankets to sell. Last year I hand quilted a beaver pelt blanket for him - huge pain!! but worth the money!
I had never shot anything until I ended up with my hubby. He was military so knows his guns and we have loads of them now. I'm not a big hunter, not enough time, I sit in the blind and think of the thousand things at home waiting for me. I don't however, have any hesitation to kill a predator although fox are so cute I always feel a little bad.

Got the hardware cloth at Home Depot for free $66.00 worth... The lady at the register couldn't find the tag or it in the computer. My BF even went and took a picture of the sales tag... she goes "Eh, for all your trouble... just take it. Don't try to return it!"
I couldn't believe it!!!
No way! We always end up with the confused people that end up charging us double.

I decided to put the guinea eggs under the broody and now they are hiding their eggs so I can't find them!! Bea the broody is breaking eggs in the nest box like crazy. She has to go somewhere else tomorrow one way or the other. On the other broody front, tonight will be my chicks first night on their own. Mom deserted them for good. At least it is supposed to be above freezing tonight.

Really, I never knew that JOUSTING originated in the good ole U.S. of A. And they certainly didn't wear cowboy boots

No, it did not. I hope that I didn't imply that it did.
I forget when and where stirrups first appeared, but I think it was on the Continent. I'll have to go back to my books. I think Burke first mentioned it but I'm not sure. Think back to the Lippazonner (sp?) stallions.

I'm poking fun at those silly English saddles. Way too difficult to ride, IMO. Give me a good Western saddle to sit any day. Not good for dressage but pretty darn good rounding up strays. It also could be that I could never sit a proper English saddle.

My cowboy boots never matched the white breeches.
