Ok, I have a problem. I need help. I have a disease. A sickness. I wonder if there is a medication for what I have.

I am getting faverolles on Wednesday! YIPPEE!! Like I said I am disturbed. LOL. I think I will get two SS also if Randy has any. He's just hatched out the faverolles, and I hope when I get there he'll have a few SS too. I know. I am disturbed.

NOW, all I need is a few Mottled orps and I will have my Jubilees in a few generations!

My husband calls english saddles "leather panty liners".

I must say, the time I got him to ride out in one he sat it like a champ on the way back to the barn. My fruit loop of a mare had spooked at a turkey, thrown me and took off. Once I told him I was okay he gave the go ahead and his gelding had taken off after her. Full gallop across the field, rounded the corner to the trail heading back to the barn without slowing down, and never missed a beat. I never would have thought he'd stay on in an english saddle at a full gallop over uneven terrain and around corners for 1/2 mile, but by-golly he did. And my mare was standing in the paddock waiting when he got there. LOL!

I fell off a horse once. Was one hell of a trip. I had never been on one, and a few friends of mine assured me that the horse they were putting me on was a steady ride. YEAH RIGHT! This sucker saw the barn, took off for it, rounded a corner on the path and I went over the side, down a ravine that had a bunch of broken concrete. I ended up in the hospital with a split open head, and dye injection to check for internal injuries cuz there was blood in my urine. OMG... What an experience. The next time I went riding, I went to a place that was run by responsible people who understood that I was a beginner and they put me on the sweetest trail horse. He was so good. It was a wonderful experience the next several times I went, and I really enjoyed trail riding.

Hey Mom 2em all, I'm hanging a shingle out for baby bunnies next week. If you really want one give me a shout out! As for keeping pelts this late in the season - forget that idea. I trapped Fisher and Marten for many years, and had a Taxidermy buisness. The prime fur is gone by and only hides that slip or need some airbrushing exist at this point. I'd just bury the carcass somewhere and be done with it. If you get a coon in Dec, or Jan, I'd consider a full body mount. I know of one that is sooooo cute.....

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a safe horse. Believe it or not I have no lasting injuries from the fruit loop mare, the green pony, etc. The only lasting injury I have is actually from a "bomb proof" gelding that anyone could ride. He was in his early thirties at the time. He freaked when I was changing his blanket one day, trampled me, stepped on my leg and the front outside quarter of my right shin is "dead" to this day.

No one else seems to want to admit that! XD I have tried so many times, and I always hear, "This is the calmest, sweetest horse in the whole wide world and nothing could ever happen to you on it." And then that is inexplicably followed by, "Zomg, I cannot believe it! I have no idea why horse did that, that was crazy! Omg, are you okay?"

I think, you need to have a heatlhy respect for them. They will know if you are scared. They smell it. They feel it in your body when you are on them. And they will not want to be mastered by a chicken, you know what I mean?

I'm always impressed by anyone who can sit a saddle well. English or Western, I don't care.
A good horse man or horse woman who rides well has a connection with their mount and they act as one.

I had a dear girl friend who rode competitive reining horse and she was very good. The spins and slides are something else to watch.

What does everyone think about building a coop on cement then filling the run with sand?? Good idea bad idea? personal experience? hard to clean? needs replacing how often?



I'm not everyone but I rebuilt the dog house in our previous 30 x 6 x 6 ft run. Started with chicks last April. Use shredded paper, with much greater leaf volume, and on the uncovered last six feet of run pitched about a yard of top soil. That gets wet and sloppy.(the soil) Chickens like to scratch in it, wet or dry. I'm going to roof the last 6 ft. Don' know if I'll add soil again. With leaves mixed in and/or covering soil keeps earthworm well. Oh yeah, floor is concrete. Guess this isn't much help. Jury is out for me. bob Oh, I feed some hay too so that gets int the mix.
