It's going to be Erie quiet around your place for a while Olive!

Glad we didn't get all the snow our neighbor states to the south and east got yesterday! Over a foot of heavy wet snow.........no thanks!! Bad enough it's down right chilly today!

I came home and DH had the brooder box all trimmed out! He did a great job on it... (kept saying that it would make a great snake box

) He'll have to make another one if he wants to get a snake! I cut some left over linoleum for the floor and put put the chicks in the brooder last night. They loved it cause they're able to flit about on their newly discovered wings!

Time to get some coffee!!

OK, got coffee, read old posts... glad the board slowed down a bit Sunday!

We had horses when I was young and I was riding bareback and double, 2 really bad combinations........ my friend was riding in the pasture with us on her horse, and mine decided to start hoping and bucking...... as my friend was falling off one side, she was pushing me from behind over the front of the horse. I ended up getting run over and kicked in the head. Hospital said I had a concussion and a few bruises. They kept drilling me if my parents did it too me...... I got ****** off, no the stupid horse did it! Btw, I think the beds with the square wheels, they save for head injury patients! I felt every crack and seam in that tile floor as they wheeled me in for X-ray. I still love horses and wish I could have one, but they're just too expensive (and I can't eat it).

Someone mentioned kidney issues... do you know what's wrong with them? Just curious, I've had kidney infections and they can knock you on your back side till they go away. Cranberry juice is a life saver!

If nothing else, BF should at least show me how to shoot so I can deal with pests we've trapped rather than waiting for him to get home and do it.

You might also want to look into local classes. I have a friend who just took a "Beginniner Woman's Handgun" class in DC and she really enjoyed it. Or you could tell BF that you're looking into those and maybe that would be the impetus to make him show you

I like Eeyores suggestions.. you'll learn a lot of safety tips and other useful things in a gun safety class... actually, you should also consider a hunters safety class. You don't have to hunt to take it, but it has a lot of useful info, plus, if you're going to be shooting predators, you should know some about MI DNR game rules etc.

Not slamming anyone's DH, BF, or SO but I think most women would be better served to go and take lessons on firearms. Less stressful on a relationship.

I agree, that's why my friend too the class - she was more comfortable (and their relationship was) with her learning from someone else.

I also agree with SillyChicken about taking a hunters class. The thing about learning from other people is that you don't necessarily get the whole picture. Not because anyones's DH/SO/BF is actively trying to hide thing but mostly for expediency. You get the "this is good enough for now" instruction and the "we'll cover that later" often never happens. Or they have been doing it for so long that the basics are automatic with them so they don't cover them, and those are exactly what a beginner needs.

Taking a course in gun safety and hunting safety were always on my mind. I wouldn't go out with a gun without taking some kind of educational course beforehand. Don't you have to have a hunting safety course before you can even get a hunting license in particular?
BF was in the military, so guns and gun safety are not unfamiliar territory for him. He jokes that I want to kill everything, my only concern is taking care of the occasional raccoon and opossum instead of leaving them in a cage until he gets home. The problem is we'll talk about it for a little while, then the subject will change and we'll both kind of forget about it.

Perhaps this weekend we can look into classes and programs for firearms. He's fairly critical about stuff like this, so he'll want me to learn properly.

Not me, but you see, the Diablo III open beta is this weekend...

I just finished ME3. I mainly play RPG's and strategy games (ie. WoW, Everquest, Dragon Age series, Skyrim, Portal series, etc)

Hi! I was wondering if anyone here has any or knows of anyone that has chickens for sale. They would be for 4-H showing. My 3 daughters are looking for some new birds. We are planning on attending a poultry show in Alma this coming weekend, but if I could find some closer I would love it. I am from the Battle Creek-Hastings-Bellevue area. Any suggestions would be lovely! Thanks!

I've always been extremely nervous about guns so I've only handled one a few times in my life. An ex of mine from high school was really into them and his grandfather teaches CCW down the road from my mother's house. If anyone ever asked me what my picture of a responsible and amazing gun owner is I'd have to describe him. A locked gun safe in a locked bed room only he and his wife have a key to, a locked box under his driver's seat, and always very conscious of those around him. He let me shoot a .22 once and said I was a pretty good shot so I've been considering one.

Opa: Peace and quiet is why I usually stay up late. You're right about taking lessons from someone other than your loved one. My husband is an amazing shot but we would just get frustrated with each other if the welding class we took together is any indication. He's used to teaching a completely different sort of person than his wife who, admittedly, is stubborn and asks far too many questions.

Ferrrett is right, that's exactly what a Diablo 3 beta is. I am part of the closed Mists of Pandarian (MoP) expansion for World of Warcraft and I can't say that I am enjoying it. The server was so overloaded and I found tons of issues on my end. It didn't help that 400,000 people hit the game the same time I did so it was like a stampede. I really need to try StarCraft 2

Emaw: Poor thing! I hope your little one gets on the mend soon. I have never heard of dry needling and it sounds really interesting but uncomfortable.

Its a lovely day here and all this horse talk makes me miss my riding lessons from childhood. I've only been on two bucking horses and neither were very committed to it and I've kept my seat. I always dreamed of being a great horsewoman but I will just have to be an OK one.
