Anyone got any good cough remedies? Besides ODing on cough suppressant (which I've taken, with little difference). I'm coughing my lungs out here, and can't seem to calm it for very long. Mint tea with honey soothed for a few minutes, a hot steamy bathroom made no difference. Going crazy coughing, I'm willing to try anything!

Stacy, Mucinex loosens the gunk in your chest and makes it easier to cough up, it is not a cough suppressant but it really makes you more comfortable and reduces the need to cough as much. I also highly recommend the whiskey (if you don't need to work, drive or operate heavy machinery).

My hatch is done!

Also got some speckled sussex chicks in this batch, they are soooo cute. They look like little chipmunks running around.

Yay Jen!

Well I got a call from Sandhill Preservation last night - they are sending me the rose-combed colored Dorkings I ordered early this spring, as well as a few regular combed ones and a bunch of Sumatras

. I am REALLY overrun with chicks now! So I have the following offer to any BYCers that would like some nice chicks

Trio of bantam Lavender Ameraucanas - 2 hens and a sweet little roo - 1 year old

4 Red dorkings (shipped by Sandhill with the earlier order) - 6 weeks old - looks like there are both pullets and cockerels.

Norwegian Jaerhons - 6 weeks old - I would prefer to sell these as trios also, as they are very rare and it would be nice to see someone take them for breeding. They lay a large off-white egg, and are excellent foragers.

Bunch of Sumatras, I think black but not sure, which I never asked for and don't want - free!! just-hatched chicks

I am traveling to Lansing next week on Friday, and on to Indiana saturday am, so if anyone is interested and would like to meet me along the way I will be happy to transport them. PM me if you are interested.

I should also have Silkies for Chickenstock, eggs are buff, partridge, white, black, BBS and something else I don't remember now.

Opa,
What size of a white/cream egg do yours lay, and how frequently? This would be a next year thing for me. I am still researching which white egg layer I would like for my small (future) flock. These are on my short list with Favorelles and Anconas.

Thank You
Scott

These cute little guys start out life from a 35 gram egg.

any idea on what kind of chicks these are, I think the 2 in front are sebright.. but the one in the back I don't know. She has a white strip on her front. They will be available at chicken stock too if anyone wants them. The closest bird is def a roo!

I would love peacocks...but boy howdy are they LOUD!!!
My brothers neighbor has them, and she lets them run free.. they are always in my brothers chicken coop eating their food, always in their yard, flying on to their house roof and waking them up. I told him if he can catch them, let me know and I'll sell them and split the money with him. They have a beautiful black male I'd like to get my hands on. That may be devious to sell someone else's property like that, but, if they want to keep their animals, they shouldn't let them run free on other peoples property like they are (esp after being asked to keep them away). My DB usually employs the SSS method when dealing with the birds and I hate to see them get shot.

1Muttfan, I sent you a pm. on the Sumatra chicks and silkies.
Stacykins, Last time I had a bad non-stop cough that kept me awake all night, took over 6 months to recover from ... I ended up needing antibiotics and cough syrup with codine in it so I could sleep. It actually caused damage to my layrinx and voice box. I cannot yell like I used to without ending in a coughing fit (not that the DH minds LOL!) and if I try to sing, my voice will just shut off!. I have no lung capacity anymore. If it drags on and on... I suggest you see a Dr for it cause it may not just be a cold and the coughing can cause damage.
I chalk part of my issue up to working at lowes and breathing that cement dust every day (we wiped the counters off every day, and it had a thick layor of cement dust on it.) I got better and then came down with it again a few months later. I haven't been that sick since I left lowes, so I know that's where it was from.

Jendear that SUCKS. Do you need some -right now-? I can't really use my cloth here because the washer leaves way too much gunk in them and we get problems with ammonia. Add in that we share it with 3 other people and yeah.. OS Fuzzy Buns, Bum Genius prefolds and I think I can find one of my covers. I hope they just blew a few yards over. Let me know and I would be glad to send them along for you to borrow until you can get new ones. Little Seedling in Ann Arbor has a used bin too.

The wind has finally lifted here at our place with beautiful sun and clear skies. I can not be happier about that even if it does rain tonight and tomorrow.

Has anyone here worked on a loom? I know someone on here (I can not remember, sorry!) works with bunnies that produce fur for spinning. Is the process difficult? I am getting a small stand loom for Mother's Day and after I master that I want to get started on spinning.

OHHHHHHHHHHH I think I should see if someone will babysit Bubba so we can get the dirt out without worrying about him, and so we can seed the area and actually have it grow.
ANyone want to babysit a sixty pound tortoise for a couple weeks?
Where do you keep him? That is so awesome!!!! I have thought about getting one. There is a pet store in Royal Oak that lets a tortoise walk around the store... he puts himself to bed at the end of the day!!!

Jendear, if it was as windy at your place as it was here, your diapers could be in your neighbors yard.

x's 2 otherwise... who steals diapers??? When they are your kids it is one thing... other kids diapers... gross!!!!
