Quinoa is good! I use it to sneak protein in my veggie kids diet, sometimes make it as a side dish, sometimes throw a handful in my soups, my veggies...anywhere I think of it, actually.

I have both red and black in the cabinet.

Well I hope you guys let me know if anyone does decide to try it.

I'd like to know what you think. I did go the lazy route with the sauce, and just mixed up ketchup and veganaise (yes, that's a thing,

) with some diced dill pickles.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say, that I will (hopefully) finish a blog post with the truffle recipes and directions tonight if I have the chance, otherwise probably tomorrow, and I will link that up since a couple of you were interested. I only have a couple minutes here and there before the kids go to bed, so if I write posts longer than a few sentences you can go ahead and guess that I have gone and come back to them at least a few times before managing to post them. So I will wait until the kids are in bed before trying to get the truffle thing down, I have to find my random scraps of paper that I took notes on, and sort things out, as I was just a little bit making things up as I went along and hoping it all worked out.

They did work out though!

Mostly it was the coconut truffles I was really unsure of, and they actually came out my favourite. I won't claim I am the greatest cook ever, but I feel secure enough to play around.

Almost time for work night #2. I really feel I'm almost done doing this part time midnight thing. I only keep this job because as PRN I'm only required to work 1 weekend a month. And it's nice to have in case we "want" something. Like right now I'm working for chicken fence. haha I do get burned out trying to live in both worlds though(day walkers and night owls). I've been doing it for just over a year and I think my endurance is coming to an end...probably before this summer.

Greetings from southern MI.

My wife and I are total chicken noobies. We got a couple of year-old pullets from a friend and put them into their tractor (built by a noobie carpenter -- me again) yesterday afternoon. Just collected our first egg. She thinks I'm a little silly to be geeked out about a chicken egg, but I think it's cool.

Anyway, just wanted to say 'ba-cawk' to everyone.

The recipe I have says to use some honey and bake it for a few minutes. I got it from Food Network and I have yet to try it. I usually have a bunch of things to do and after a certain time of night I keep up the other people in the house when I putter around in the kitchen. Since one is out of town I might get it done tonight. I used to inhale those Kashi TLC almond granola bars and then read the label- peanut flour. Now they are death. :( I hope my version tonight is good.

Quinoa is awesome. I really like it as a way to get protein in veggie stir fry and when my son won't eat meat (which is way too often for his weight issues). I am going to try those burgers asap (I have avocado in the fridge and the little man loves it!). Egg drop soup is another way to use up extra green onion/shallots, celery, etc and eggs.

Challa bread is also a great way to use up eggs but I have never made it myself.

Mmmm. We like quinoa here too. We make it for breakfast sometimes instead of oatmeal. My little guy is sensitive to both gluten and dairy, so it really limits our options. we put a little agave or Michigan maple syrup on it. Delicious!

I was totally geeked when I got my first egg. I kissed that hen full on the lips then I cooked the egg and savoured every bit of it.
I happen to think that it is very cool to get an egg from any one of my hens.

The very best thing I heard was from a friend whom I gave eggs to. Her 4 YO girl liked the bantam egg and said, "It's just my size and sooooo creamy".

Ugh, no kidding. I can do one or the other, but I don't think I would switch back and forth very well. :(

Hmm. I use agave nectar in mine, but it isn't sticky enough to form. I wonder if it would form if I used more.

I did not know you could get a ticket for having a bad attitude - we may all be in trouble
