Been scouring the internet for tips on grooming my silkies for Saturday!

Found some good tips and chatted with a few people through email. I'm hoping I do well...even just not to get disqualified for something I didn't know about would make me happy!

Here's some pics for you guys to laugh at of my silkies getting thier baths last night!

Our blue pullet...she just thinks she's all that and a bag of chips....we'll show her who's all that....(insert evil laughter here)

My splash rooster....not amused...he just sat there and glared and muttered

I will get pictures of them at the show to show you guys how awesome they look now that they're all prettied up for show!

Lol!! I can't believe ou can bathe chickens. Do you use something specific? I think Waffles needs a bath. She gets so dirty with those white feathers and all those feathers on her feet!

Jen - so if I don't find what I'm looking for tomorrow would you have splash and partridge at ChickenStock or would you be willing to meet up? I just want them as pets. I also just want one of each.

They actually seemed to like it. The only one who really complained was the splash and that's cause he talks alot and has the IQ of frozen broccoli.

I used baby shampoo/body wash. I read you can pretty much use anything but I figured I would use something that was not as harsh as adult-people shampoo. Dog flea/tick shampoo was recommended too.

HAHAA, those chickens are really TICKED off... with p's and s's. LOL

Oh well that's easy. I have tons of baby shampoo. I'm going to wash her tomorrow...we'll see if she's still so sweet afterward. And okie dokie on the silkies. I'll let you know tomorrow evening.

My white chicken looks filthy too. They probably all are but she's the only one I can see it on, lol. Don't know if I'll bathe them though...definitely not show chickens lol

what fun,

bathing a chicken. I broke the task up over the week did bathing twice, invited a friend come over and help me. can't wait to get to the show.

Hi Pycnopsyche! Welcome! Congrats on the first egg and I'd love to see pictures of your tractor.

Ladyfeather et al., here is a shot of the ladies in our tractor. Don't ask for blueprints; they don't exist. I just followed the voices in my head and some pictures of other BYC tractors. We also have a smal portable fence that we attach to give them some more room. There is too much going on in the neighborhood to have them free-range.
