I'm still looking for people from Shelby Township to join me in trying to get our ordinances changed. I hope somebody sees this so we can work together.

Welcome, Sandy! Everyone in this thread is pretty spread out across Michigan, but I hope you find someone to connect with, and wish you luck. Do you have a TSC, FFH, or local feed store there that you could post something on the bulletin board?

I am not in Shelby Township, but I have a similar situation to yours. I am conforming to GAAMPS and keeping records of egg sales, when all I really want are some pet chickens and fresh eggs. I am happy to help you as I can. Please let me know how it turns out.

Thank you, and I will. Have you had any problems yet with anybody turning you in or complaining?

M.sue, I looovvee Lil Blu!! You guys are killin me with all your new chickies. I am having the hardest time resisting, especially those of you are just givin them away!

You have me going back over my plan... Is there any reason why I can't have more than 11? No, not really... Just the fact that I will have 50,000 chickens in a few years..." Argh.

You'll be like the crazy cat lady!

I have another broody... Skeeter stole Skatters egg, kicked Skatter out of the nest box. Skatter is tissed... with a capital P. My mom asked why I am letting more chicks hatch. I said, the more roosters for dinner the better. lol. Them Dang cochins...

Thank you! There is a TSC about 18 miles away. Nothing really close. I'm not sure how many people from my Twp. go there for anything, but it's worth a shot. Thanks for the suggestion! I need to figure out the first step. I've never done anything like this before, but I am SO fed up lately with the laws it makes me sick. Instead of complaining, I want to do something about it. I don't want to get my chickens and then be in fear every day of losing them.

Dumb question maybe, but what is FFH?

Sandy

I am going to go take some new pics of the little chickens... Let you guys laugh at me for holding out on Muttsy being a roo for absolutely sure.

If even just one of you says there maybe might be just a little possibility that it will turn out he's a she, I will be ecstatic.

Oh well, at least there is Olive. She was saying just the other day how much she super duper extra special juicy plus wanted a mutt rooster to be BFF with.

How do you keep track and know who stole who's eggs or what? I'd have to live in my coop to figure the dynamics out!

I just got them a couple of days ago. They are behind a privacy fence, and our land is adjacent to several acres of undeveloped city land. The neighbors are pretty mellow and I can't imagine they would complain even if the chickens were visible, which they aren't. Who knows about the city, though. Spies everywhere. I suspect that I will get 'caught' at some point, and will try to muster a MRTFA defense, or maybe apply for a zoning variance or a law change.
