The day is a little gloomy and cold but considering the fact that we are here to see it makes for a great day.

Misidentifying someone's gender can sometimes be quite funny. When I first retired I decided to not get a haircut for a while, like four years. This was back before I started molting and with hair falling well below my shoulders I was told, on several occasions, that I had hair that many women would be envious of. One time, while driving on a two lane hiway, I happened to notice a vehicle behind me driving very aggressively. He kept trying to pass but each attempt was prevented by on coming traffic. Finally when he was able to pass he looked over at me and immediately let off the accelerator. The look of disappointment on his face was priceless.

Every morning a check the bald eagle nest at Decorah Iowa. It's intriguing to watch the development from egg to eaglet to adult. From the first few days that the mother rarely leaves and must tear small pieces of food to feed them, then their ripping and tearing apart a carcass on their own. Seeing how awkward and clumsy they currently are it's hard to envision how graceful they will be in a few short months.

The three fledglings are no longer able to fit under their mother but with the cold and a light rain falling they are trying but only their heads fit. This morning I can only see two and I hope the third is under its nest mates.

Hey ..I see Olive is here...she admits she just skims the posts- so I can post here that at Chickenstock, I plan on slipping an Uggo in with her stuff,,and she wont even know my plan because she is skimming...

On the odd chance I make it to Chickenstock with any sort of stuff, trust me, I'll notice one of those horrid things slipped inside.

For the record there are a few things I specifically scan for and "Olive" is one of them, so if you're going to talk about me, you'll all have to come up with a code name. LOL!

ETA: I'm loathe to admit it, but there was actually a chick you posted a picture of a few days ago that I was quite fond of. It was an outdoor picture and there was a brown chick off to the right of the photo. I thought he was rather charming.

Is this an eagle cam? Have a link? My son watched the one out of Virgina last year and it was a tough learning experience for him as the mother was killed and they took the babies from the dad because he wasn't able to care for them.

Off to 4-H Achievement day today. I don't remember it that well and this is my son's first year.

This morning just got better. As I sat drinking coffee Hope spotted two toms dancing at the back of the property. I grabbed my shotgun and quickly stalked the 150 yards that separated us. Fortunately there is a large mound of dirt that blocked their view of me. Belly crawled up and over the berm and only one tom left.

Eagles are great to watch but really have no song. Any movie featuring an eagle has a RedTailed Hawk voice over for stunning effect. There's a raptor rescue center that gives tours in Cedar Creek (right down the road from Cedar Creek Hatchery (chickens and tiurkeys). My best experience with eagles was in Kodiak, Alaska when I first joined the Coast Guard. The eagles were everywhere. We regularly climbed into the mountains to explore and eagles would be close enough to touch (almost) but then again the Brown Bears were more worrrisome. Have a great day MI peeps, another good one!

Nice bird. I almost got a licence for my property but been way too busy. So many turkeys eating all my song bird food too. Pests! But the toms put on a great show. Their favorite thing to do is go up to my truck and see themselves in the hubcaps then fight with my truck tires, lol!
