This is what we started with yesterday...

This is what we ended with...
After my BF got 2 service calls that he had to run to and a buddy that needed his brakes to be changed...

It is not even close to being done and I am itching to get some chicks in it!!!!

Well, the squirrels found my bird feeder this morning... I got the really good cardinal mix... Mmmm! It took them a week to find it!!

Awesome coop, my son is looking for an easy coop to built and this will help him, thanks for sharing!

Silly how wide are the sides? I am making a old hunting shack into a coop, its hexegon. The side are each 8 foot how do you figure the square footage? I hate math,

Here a picture again I don't know what to do with these windows they don't open. The side facing the picture will be where the run will go 8 foot wide, 16 foot long and 6 foot tall. I can't wait to get it started.

Have you ever stopped to think and forgot to start again? Brain fart!!! Is it bad that I have senior moments at 25???

If you have any questions about it feel free to ask... I guess I should start a coop page...

Edit:
My coop is a lot like
Wichita Cabin Coop
Goody2230's Coop
My Little Coop
Mikecnorthwest's Coop

After seeing how many were very similar... I don't think I will post mine or I will wait until it is finished.

How tall is it Kimmie? You said each side is 8ft and it is an octagon?

(2(1+square root of 2))*(square root of side)= area of base
Area of base* Height= volume of octagonal prism

If you really wanted to know

(I googled it)

Hex, not Oct.

It's ~166 square feet. Would need the diameter measured at the center of a side to the center of the opposite side (and confirmation that it's a true hex) to figure it exactly.

Mine is very small unfortunately! You have a gold mine there! Here is how I do the quick math for figuring square footage on something like this.. Break it down geometrically (had a brain fert).

I don't think she wanted the cubic yard (total air space!) square footage is just the floor space.

Its at least 5 1/2 feet tall around the edges and the center is around 9 feet. Has a wood floor of course and the roof don't leak.

Cut in new windows that will open Kimmie. That way, even with the ones that don't open, you will still get your ventilation, and nice winter light! I mean, heck, people houses have windows that are just for aesthetics...

Do you mean take the old windows out and put new in or add more windows? The big door opens then there is a screened pocket door. I am going to put a screen wall so down the middle so I can have storage.

I forgot most of what I wanted to reply to, we'll start with,

I am not pregnant! You people!

Farmerboy - Your story about the cows reminded of the *** my mum had when she was little, it was always breaking away, and once planted itself in front of the school bus, and would not budge for anything. All the kids ended up being a couple hours late for school, which I am sure they were terrible disappointed about.

Sending positive thoughts your way on you MG tests.

Uh.. someone... Fuzzy? They stopped putting asbestos in vinyl flooring in the 70s, and this one was put in sometime late 80s, so I don't think the floor is the problem, but thank you.

Kimmie - I think she was saying to put new opening windows in in addition to the non opening windows. That's what I would do, too, the extra light will be nice for them especially in Winter when you don't want them open anyway.

Babigyrl - Those bunnies are so fuzzy and cute!

Opa - I hope you have a nice trip.

Silly - Your coop is looking good, I wouldn't want to paint over all that pretty wood either, I don't see why a deck stain or any exterior stain and sealant wouldn't work.

I second M.sue's question about when roos develop spurs.

And that's it for my memory.
