I got to tell you that my family thinks I have completely lost my mind but I don't care.

Why is it that if we have the hobby of 'chickens' that people think we have lost our minds? Do people think dog lovers have lost their minds? What is wrong with people?

Maybe it's because our hobby causes "chicken pox"? Or because we are cowards, "chicken" in the eyes of the public. Or that we are smarter than the masses, "egg heads"? Perhaps we are perverts because we appreciate "breasts, thighs and legs"?

RaZ - in all fairness, I have been called a crazy bird lady and a crazy cat lady at different times in my life..........so maybe it is just animals in general.

I think it's a social comment directed at anyone who has more than one of any pet. More than 2 cats? Crazy cat person. More than 2 dogs? Crazy dog person. Chickens? Fagetaboutit. You must be nuts.

The only people who can get away with it are "farmers". Just as long as they live far away from "normal" people. Kind of sad when you think about it.

Well, I'm glad to be part of this crazy group. My Mom came from a farm and thinks I am some kind of nut for even thinking about housing chickens. But she does like the eggs. Only because they are free.
