Good morning! First morning this week I have woke up without a headache and it is so very nice. The sun and blue sky are great and it looks like we are supposed to hit 60 degrees today. I am however stuck at home today. The ball joint went out of my car yesterday - as I was driving. Because hubby is home today to fix it, maybe I can get him to help with my coop/tractor.

I want to get some pregarden work done - my dad is coming to till everything for me next week. And last but not least I want to get my new clothes line up and herb bed in. Busy day but lots of energy when it's this beautiful out.

Farmerboy, so happy to hear your great news!

Eeyore, love your hoop house

Opa, why don't you just tell me when you plant your stuff and I will plant 2 weeks later - we seem to be just about 2 weeks behind you most years

VJ and Brethren, I am so sorry to hear about your losses

Hugs to those who have lost loved ones.

Congrats n the negative Farmerboy!

Getting ready to spend the day with a bunch of 3rd graders. G oing to the museum on a field trip today.

Good Morning Everyone,
What a beautiful day this morning. Today is my day for house work. I'm gonna get done what needs to be done...sweep & wash floors, clean bathrooms and then it's outside. I need to go to the local greenhouse and pick up some herbs. I want to get that garden going and hopefully get some of it planted this weekend.

vj & brethren......sorry to hear about your losses.

Farmerboy......AWESOME NEWS......CONGRATS!!

Love this one!! I've always wanted one but I couldn't get just one I'd have to get two and there goes the chicken math again! This pic makes it sooooo tempting!

Just curious what most of you are charging for eggs.

I give the first dozen free to potential customers and then after I ask $3. Haven't thought about increasing the price yet for I only have a few regulars, the rest is family and they always pay/barter up one way or another.

I'm so close to being done and being able to move the chicks in.

This looks great!

Here's an interesting chart that shows how soil temperature affects germination

This is a handy chart. DH has one similar....don't know where he got from though.

Wanting to do the same here.....with the weather being so favorable it's hard to stay inside!

Everyone, Have a great and productive day!!

Good morning everyone! I finally feel like I am (almost) back in the land of the living. Ten days with that nasty virus that is going around. The worst part of it is the horrible headache that I.can.not.get.rid.of!!! Headed to the chiro tonight hope that helps.

Sorry for the losses of family members. I lost my dad at age 59 to cancer. It is an ugly, ugly disease.

Yeah to the new chicks, disease free reports and newly homed orphans!

I have to laugh at the husband-discussions. My DH is a stay-at-home-dad so he deals with laundry, cleaning, childcare, etc. This is our 10th year of the arrangement and it has worked out well for us. While I would LOVE to stay at home with my kids, I have the secure job with excellent benefits so he got the short straw

. He does work seasonally (he's a tax man). I am super proud of him...he just graduated last Saturday with his Bachelor's degree. He has taken classes every semester for the last ten years and finally completed. It's funny, since he has taken classes every semester for my kids' entire lives, they are having a difficult time wrapping their heads around his graduation. My dd keeps saying, "so, dad's not going to be going to school any more?" A new paradigm for them!

I am really wanting that chicken from TSC for mother's day.....I may have to make a run there tonight....

Hope everyone has a great day!

After all the garden talk, I decided to snap some pictures for you out in ours this morning. We're harvesting radishes, lettuce and green onions. We plant our white onions -- sterling, this year -- close and harvest every other one for green onions in the spring and then let the remaining mature along with the yellows and reds for harvest later in the year. Saves space. Which is a good thing since I consistently run out of room every year despite my best efforts to reign it in.

Potatoes, peas and strawberries aren't ready yet, but they're working on it.

Next week launches Operation Get Everything In The Ground. It was supposed to be this week, but all that rain last week/weekend put a cramp in my plans.

My dog Gunny was my first child... Needless to say he was spoiled beyond spoiled! When I was pregnant we started keeping him off the bed because I did not want him to jump up all crazy and step on the baby. Plus, all the dirt and hair in the bed was getting rediculous! He was then allowed to sleep on the couch. Now he sleeps on two over stuffed couch cusions on the floor... I am washing his blankie right now and he is trying to cover himself up with my curtains. My poor unloved dog...
PS Now that my son is older and no longer sleeps in our bed... Gunny is allowed to cuddle with me under the covers once again... as long as I invite him

I wish I had someone to spoil me. Can one be spoiled if one is already rotten?

Does anyone know how duck group dynamics work? One of the older orphans seems to have little tolerance for the new one. But at the same time two others "share" the baby and seem to watch over him.

My replacement bees are here.

I'll buzz out to pick them up this afternoon.

Congratulations Daron on the good test results.

Opa/Olive and everyone else.

My jealous/envious side is coming out. I so want to be back there starting a garden right now. For Michigan, what can I start around mid-July and harvest before the first frost? I really want to get a garden going this year, I am already planning for some lettuce and other greens this fall?

Also, I am finally coming back to house hunt in a couple weeks and get to show my wife around MI for the first time. Does anyone know of a good Memorial Day weekend fest? We are staying in Kalamazoo, but I don't mind driving a couple hours to find a good fest. I really hope we are done house hunting by then so we can relax a little.

Olive, I am going to be sitting down shortly to venison goulash and a good German beer, those radish would be perfect....looks good.
