Definitely, those places are designed to maximize the client's potential. M.Sue was saying just the other day how blessed she is by a lady she cares for who is 99yrs and in an inpatient setting. Now, I know there are exceptions but I have really enjoyed my years in some of those settings, even the ones that are for the most impaired people and I have seen much laughter, many hugs, a few tears and lots of worthwhile living going on. Life doesn't stop when you change locations! And as long as there are people around you (or your father in law), life will be lived!

For my client's daughter, an only child, this decision was not easy for her to make. It weighed heavily on her mind for several months before she actually decided to move her mom. It was the best for her, her family and her mother. She now has daily interaction with people instead of her occasional trips on various days to do errands, church, the salon, etc....It has made her more livelier than she already was! Plus it gives her daughter & herself the reassurance that she is never totally alone, and is properly cared for. We as children do the best we can when caring for our aging parents and there is nothing wrong with getting some help with that care for it can become very overwhelming at times.

It is a very tough decision to make. Some people like my Mom can be very stubborn about leaving their homes. Even if it might be in their best interest.
Since my Dad died, I've been taking care of my Mom's house as best I can but I'm not there as much as I should be. It is overwhelming and I could use some help from time to time, but help just ain't there.

I've tried to talk her into selling both of our houses and buying something that we both can share but she won't have it. She is a stubborn old broad. She told me this, "I didn't move when your Father retired. I didn't move when he died; I be darned if I'll move now". She is a PITA for sure, but you do have to appreciate the stubborn streak.

Social interaction is more important to a healthy life than most of us realize. When my father passed and I brought Granny here to live with us her various afflictions kept her basically home bound. Once her health issues were properly diagnosed and treated she was no longer in physical pain yet the loss of my father had taken much from her. Once I was able to get her to start attending a local church and she met and started doing things with some of the other widows, she started returning to her former self.

Even cyber interaction can be beneficial. I'm sure that the banter on this thread often helps people see their day in a better light.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! In an hour!
Well... Almost got the coop all painted! Had my son helping. He did a pretty good job! Except he painted a part that I wanted to be white RED!! Ooopppss. Oh well...

We were almost done when it started raining.

Covered it up with a tarp... it will be interesting to see what it looks like tomorrow. I knew it would rain as soon as we started painting.
In the summer, after I water my flowers or garden... it rains. EVERYTIME. So if you would like it to rain in Oakland Co just let me know and I will go water my gardens!
@ HD they have livestock safe paint... barn red, white, and grey. Just incase you might be looking. Mine was out of white so I bought exterior paint... It will have plenty of time to air out before the babies get to go in! Should I be worried?
I am going to stick tiles to the floor of the coop so it will bw easier to clean... maybe up the wall a little.
When should put in nesting boxes?

Thanks for the suggestions! I do try to watch a movie before he does or at least be sitting there while it is on for the first time. Toy Story 3 was the one that gave him bad nightmares! They almost get melted/ burned at the end...

My DD gave me an early Mother's Day gift......she surprised me with a beautiful pot planted with bright & cheery flowers that she & her father planted together and placed it in one of my old crocks.

Uggos, bulldogs, I can see why some of you might find having ugly thing appealing, but I have no need of them. My house has mirrors.

The light in their eyes is priceless when the kids think of things & do them on their own....It just melts my heart!

I respectfully disagree.
Since Sky-net took over Big Brother, all of our cyber interactions are monitored. And that better light is the spot-light of the "Man" come to take me down for chicken-groping and snarking with the ladies on this forum.

On the up side, that bright light irradiated the eggs and they hatched into Uggos.

For me, all it takes is pulling out the lawn mower. It took my son this whole past week to finally get it all mowed because every time he went out it started raining within minutes. He finished the last section today, but now thanks to all the rain he needs to go back and start all over again!

Stacykins- love the aracaunas. Oh, and I totally know what you mean about those raccoons. Talk about a shock when we put that one in.

On that note, kids and movies are tricky. I wouldn't let my kids watch anything that wasn't age appropriate. It annoyed my youngest a lot that her siblings were able to watch a movie and she couldn't. I kept to it, though. Just wish my ex-husband had done the same thing...Snakes on a Plane anyone?

Nothing like having your kids complain about not getting to watch a particular movie when they already have ones like that movie under their belt. I can only be grateful that that is no longer anything I have to worry about.

Mothers Day is officially here and I hope that this bouquet brightens your day. Perhaps this story will better demonstrate the regard with which I hold all of you.

While out hunting two hunter encounter a deer mired in the mud. To their surprise it spoke to them asking for their help. After much pulling and tugging they were able to free the animal. Once upon solid ground again it turned to face them and said as a token for their help and kindness they would each be granted a wish.

The first hunter immediately asked that he become the smartest man in the world and instantly it was so. The second thought and finally asked to be smarter than the smartest man in the world. In a flash he became a woman.
