Well my feather eaters are gone. Sent them to my brother in laws.
AND Toes.

Why do roos have to be so easy to get attached to?

AND OLIVE my notmeaties butt is bleeding.
Because Toes wouldnt quit plucking and picking at it. I instantly thought of dying him blue..lol..but his butt is so bare, the dye wouldnt even cover that.

SO, I examined the d'uccles...one is darker than the other three..
I still cant tell if they are roo or pullet. I guess tomorrow morning, I will listen and see if anyone crows now that Toes is gone.

I do think I should name my NOtmeaties...Pimento and Olive..lol. Just for spite, and because I can.

I wish you the best of the luck, but lets call a spade a spade. If you have any intention of arguing your case with the RTFA you are, indeed, claiming to be a farmer with a farm. The very description of the Act is, "to provide for circumstances under which a farm shall not be found to be a public or private nuisance". Section 2, not even a quarter of the way down the first page of the act, defines a "farm" as, "the land, plants, animals, buildings, structures, including ponds used for agriculture or aquacultural activities, machinery, equipment and other appurtenances used in the commercial production of farm products."

I think your right Olive. Anyone can claim to have a farm and produce farm products, not hard with the list of what is included, however, it comes down to the "commercial production". I think that is a bit ambiguous - lots of commercial businesses don't make a profit, but you have to convince the judge, not me.

Raz - you might want to add there has been no noise, or smell complaints and have a "manure handling plan".

Seriously, sparse feathering is just a CX trait, not much you can do about it. Every once in a while you get one that feathers out nicely -- I have a CX hen out here that could be mistaken for a real chicken -- but they're few and far between. Simple fix though, they ought to be ready for the freezer by now.

Mission Accomplished....I got the saddle on my hen Izzy! She wasn't thrilled at first, kept doing the funky chicken walk...lol. DH & I watched her for a bit as they were free ranging and she seemed to be getting use to the feel of it on her back. They all had ball in the garden. The neighbor tilled it up for us tonight with his BIG ORANGE KUBOTA! What a coincidence & you guys were talking about tractors tonight.

Taprock - If it's fluid filled you can lance and drain it. Because it's recurring I would suspect an infection as the culprit. If there has been any other sign of illness in your flocks you could have more than just a basic infection on your hands, otherwise a round of antibiotics should help prevent it from recurring again.
