Opa - Done and done, I was thinking about that all of a sudden while finishing up the new nesting boxes. I am too tired, I was only thinking along the lines of "pun" and not that it was probably a little too dirty.

I barely finished getting the pieces cut for the new nesting boxes before the storm rolled in, but I did manage to get it all together and painted in the back porch. The front piece needs a second coat, but aside from that they are done, huzzah. The new ladies should begin laying soon, so I am glad to have that done. My circular saw crapped out on me (I am never buying another power tool again, aside from maybe a drill, that is battery powered. Sounds nice in theory, sucks in reality,) so I had to finish the last few cuts with my scroll saw. It was just the angled cuts on the dividers / side walls, but they are less than clean and straight lines. Ohhhh well.
I saw that comment and went back to delete my response. I forget that this forum is wide open.

I'm the uncle that your folks don't want you to visit. Sorry if I get out out of line, I'm mostly harmless.

I admire a lady that can handle power tools. Get yourself a set of Dewalt battery powered tools. I've use and abused mine for years and they are still working fine. Although the batteries don't hold a charge like they used to, they are still my go-to units for most jobs.

I don't normally ask for prayers, good vibes, whatever... My sister has been rushed to the hospital for ER.. She has internal bleeding and bile duct leakage. She had her gall bladder out Friday... Things have not gone well. She has to self catheter every 2 hours just to pass water, has not had a bm in 3 days and now this... So, you see where I angling on this. Thanks so much.
Sending her and you the good vibes that I have.

Had a bit of a hawk experience today. DH and I were sitting on the couch when he says a hawk just swooped around the yard. I looked out the window and saw nothing so went back to reading. A few minutes later he says 'there it is again'. I still see nothing. This goes on for about 15 minutes with him seeing a hawk swooping and me seeing nothing when I finally see the hawk swoop. He had a HUGE wingspan! So I get up and look out the window and see it and it's joined by another one. I tell DH and as he's coming to look, the 2 are joined by a 3rd hawk. DH looks at the 3 when along comes another! They started to circle lower over our yard and DH was like 'what are they doing?' Um, looking for dinner! So I yelled out to the kids and we all ran out and got all the chickens gathered and put in their coop/pens. While we were doing that, the hawks flew away, but there was no way I was leaving any of the chickens out. So I guess they will be on lock down for a few days to try to get the hawks discouraged and moving on. It actually is ok because they weren't going to be let out tomorrow anyway because we'll be out all day for my DD's long awaited and finally here neurology appointment and tests.

Are you certain that is was hawk? This time of year it would be unusual to see three hawks flying together. All so you mention that the wing span was HUGE. The Coopers hawk is probably responsible for most of the raptor predation on poultry. It hunts by ambush not by circling and swooping down. It has a wing span of 3'. A red tail hawk 4'. Turkey vultures however, normally fly with several other birds and while they pose no threat to poultry chicken usually react as if they were. They will circle an area until there highly developed sense of smell or the incredible eyesight detects something . They they come down in an ever tightening circle. They have a wingspan of 6' and are quite commonly mistaken for hawks.

RaZ - Gosh, now I am terrifically curious as to what you said. As far as performance goes, I have been happy with my battery powered tools, it's just that the batteries never last nearly long enough. The circular saw is out of oomph in no time, and the Dremel never lasts long enough to finish a project. They aren't working out to be quite as convenient as I was thinking they would be. The drill is the only thing that doesn't burn off its juice like it's going out of style. I would still like to have them for when the portability really is necessary, but honestly, most all the time I would be fine with an extension cord and actually being able to finish what I was doing.

I will be doing my part from afar!
