I pulled a Juise and took my shoes off. My grass is nice and thick and soft right now, so it was a nice thing, BUT, I didn't pull a Juise and get chicken chit between my toes I look where I walk!

Mostly I end up stepping in it in the evening as the light is fading when I go out to lock them up, and usually it's in the coop or run, where it blends well with the dirt and can be hard to see. XD

Does anyone want some grape vines?

What kind of grapes are they?

Backyard Farm Mom, that's nothing..... my mom had a friend who's kid came to our house when i was a teen and he hid in the bathroom and ATE our gel air freshener! Thing didn't even smell good, i don't want to think about taste......

Eeeeeewwww! I hate to think what was in it, too. Gross. My smallest one was pretty obsessed with candle chewing until sometime shortly after she turned one. She can climb anything, so there was really no putting them out of reach, I stopped having any out at all. Most of my candles already had tiny bite marks out of them, though. :p

Well, didn't you say the candle was a frog? Maybe they want to eat meat!

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Speaking of hatching turkey poults. After last week's hatch I asked DH if he'd grab the eggs that didn't hatch out of the incubator and toss them on his way out to the woods... sure, of course he would. I didn't think anything more about it, until this week's hatch was due on Wednesday. My eggs always hatch 1-2 days early. Always. On Tuesday I didn't hear any peeping from the office. Weird, but I got distracted and went about my business. Went in on Wednesday morning to check and ... only three turkeys.

Thought it odd, but I had been leaving the office window open at night so maybe it was a bit off and they were just going to hatch later than usual. Went about my business. Checked yesterday, just three. WTH? Today... three. Looked closer and the eggs I can see the marks on in the bator say "1". They should say "2". Are you all putting together what I'm putting together? I don't even want to open it and go through them. I'm fairly certain he disposed of the wrong eggs.

Details, details...............

oh........... anyway you can check to see where he would have tossed em?..... maybe?

LOL!

He tossed them in the woods, I'm sure they're eaten by now. It's not really necessary though, I know how many 1's and how many 2's I set. When I open that bator and take them out, it'll be pretty evident. I know he tossed at least some of them since the right number of eggs is in there, but I can see a few 1's without even opening it. *sigh*

Olive: Oh no . Sorry to hear about the eggs!

Does anyone know if I should try to get rid of the massive nests of ants in every single one of our gardens? They don't seem to be hurting the insane amount of weeds we are getting but I don't want to waste all these seeds. Most of the stuff I find on line says to use Diaz or use barriers of DE.

I think I got conned into doing all the yard work,

BF went on about how it's such a nice day, and that the lawn needed mowing and weed whacking, and maybe we could drag out the hammock, and we should really spend the day outside in the nice weather. His back is still sore, so I offered to mow the lawn, he washed the car and truck, then he tinkered around the coop, was in and out of the house and I thought nothing of it. I finished mowing, moved on to weed whacking, and didn't notice that he was no longer outside.
After I finished taking down weeds I realized he wasn't outdoors, I figured to heck with it and set up the hammock, then got on FB via an iPod and commented about how he was going on about taking in the nice day, but sitting indoors like a slug. Now he's out on the hammock, soaking up the sun and hanging out with the chickens.

I'm not complaining though, I don't mind doing the yard work. He's been working 12 hours shifts for the past few weeks, he can have a few days of not working. I started tearing the weeds out of the garden, then realized how dehydrated I was and came inside to rest for a bit.
