I am sure there will be GF's... but I want them to wait till they are finished college, have good jobs before marriage and children. I don't think that is unreasonable. My ex and I both had good jobs and a home lined up before we got married. I think that is an important thing. I want my kids to have good jobs, good home before marriage and kids. Stable on their own, you know what I mean?Well, I think your boys are going to want companionship before they get through college and into careers. Mary has 2 more years of college and her BF is starting med school in the Fall. (He just told us that he chose the one only 15 miles from Mary's college - how convenient.) So obviously they have a long road ahead of them. But they don't want to be lonely, they want friendship/love/joy while they strive to accomplish and grow. I can say that it seems to be a good thing.
Thanks, we think she is sweet too. She always comes running first when I call them and she always the first to head for the coop. She literally snuggles right up to the others still.M. Sue - I just love Squirt!
I know. I used to think that also. But I can see that a lot of the young people we know want to pair up and work together toward goals. That used to bother me but we have so many of them getting married just after graduation that I am getting used to the fact that they meet in college and marry soon after. Some of them anyway.I am sure there will be GF's... but I want them to wait till they are finished college, have good jobs before marriage and children. I don't think that is unreasonable. My ex and I both had good jobs and a home lined up before we got married. I think that is an important thing. I want my kids to have good jobs, good home before marriage and kids. That is me! 51 no matter which way I count. You do realize that still leaves you with 51 chickens...![]()
I shouldn't laugh...that's going to be me before long.
13 was easy. My boy will be 18 soon and to top it off he will be graduating from high school in two weeks. Totally not ready for that.OH! I am so not looking forward to that day... when my oldest turns 13...
I was pitching leaves into the garden the other day feeling faint, weak and thinking, what sane person does this to themselves. But obviously I'm not the only one... I feel much saner knowing it's not just me!
Juise - why do you have the tarp on the ground and the wood chips on it? What do you have planned?
My DD is being weaned off her current medication and it is creating such havoc on her poor system.
I would be raging!!! I would have knocked on her door and stuffed it right in her mouth and said "There! That is were it belongs!" Or I would have tied a string on to it and handed it to her and said "Thanks for trying to stop my flow, but maybe you should use it to stop yours..." and walked away... Crazy @#!$#@@#$$%&*@!$%#@!%^ (I edited that out myself) Oh she makes me mad!!!I buzzed out to Howell this afternoon to go to one of my favourite nurseries.
When I got home, I noticed the pond was half empty. Now I just cleaned and set the filter yesterday and made absolutely certain that there were no leaks.
The filter sits behind the brick wall which means that it is in the front side yard.
The system ran all night and was fine when I fed the fish at noon. When I checked for the lost water, I found a sponge stuffed in the outlet pipe so the water overflowed the top of the filter barrel.
I wonder how that sponge got stuffed into that 2" pipe????![]()
You are a better woman then I...He would have at least had to bring me drinks and snacks... Glad he got rested up though!I think I got conned into doing all the yard work,.![]()
BF went on about how it's such a nice day, and that the lawn needed mowing and weed whacking, and maybe we could drag out the hammock, and we should really spend the day outside in the nice weather. His back is still sore, so I offered to mow the lawn, he washed the car and truck, then he tinkered around the coop, was in and out of the house and I thought nothing of it. I finished mowing, moved on to weed whacking, and didn't notice that he was no longer outside.
After I finished taking down weeds I realized he wasn't outdoors, I figured to heck with it and set up the hammock, then got on FB via an iPod and commented about how he was going on about taking in the nice day, but sitting indoors like a slug. Now he's out on the hammock, soaking up the sun and hanging out with the chickens.![]()

I'm not complaining though, I don't mind doing the yard work. He's been working 12 hours shifts for the past few weeks, he can have a few days of not working. I started tearing the weeds out of the garden, then realized how dehydrated I was and came inside to rest for a bit.
Well, he ate the arms and legs and sides... The green part must have been the best... He could have just chomped part of it off instead of scraping it all over... kids...Haha no, I was responding to BackyardFarmMom, SHE is the one with the frog eater!![]()
Oh boy that was quite the read!!!The little chickens spent their first night on the same roost as the big chickens last night, this morning everyone was still alive, yay! lol
Wait, I don't think I have done much other than respond for the last couple weeks, so we'll start at the beginning and I'll try not to write a Nova novel.![]()
............ .........
Thanks to anyone who actually made it through this post, LOL.
Yikes!!! Poor ducks!!!Well today certainly started out with a bit of neighborhood excitement.
One of my outside ducks was trying his wings and flew over the back fence to Patty's yard. Well she has this young boxer...
Gracie caught the duck and fetched it to the other neighbor, Johnnie. But Johnnie was on his side of the fence and when the dog released the duck, the duck took off. So the chase continued. This happened a few times until Johnnie got over to Patty's yard. Johnnie is 84 BTW. Anyhow, the duck was caught and dropped back over the fence to my side.
There is no sign of injury and the ducks are behaving normally. Hopefully it will be a lesson to them and they will remember when they migrate in the fall.
Since I was up and the bees weren't really moving about, I moved them in to the new hive body. Then Johnnie asked for some help laying sod in his yard. At 84, he can no longer do the heavy lifting that he used to do. He is such a nice old guy, I'm happy to help. I'll probably be doing more for him around the yard.
I have no idea... the birds eat them all before I get to see them full sized! So they are good eat-able ones... I guess (There are no dead birds around... that I have seen) But if you want them, they are ALL YOURS!!!What kind of grapes are they?
Eeeeeewwww! I hate to think what was in it, too. Gross. My smallest one was pretty obsessed with candle chewing until sometime shortly after she turned one. She can climb anything, so there was really no putting them out of reach, I stopped having any out at all. Most of my candles already had tiny bite marks out of them, though.![]()
Have a good and safe trip!I'm pretty sure that I have gotten old. If fact when God created the world in six days, I think I may have been sitting on the couch next to him when he rested on that 7th day.
Probably going to head south around 4am so ya'll will have to fix your own coffee. Notice how I slipped that ya'll in there? I'm just practicing so that when I get south tomorrow night the people there won't realize I'm not one of the folks.
I hope I can get access to a computer a few times while I'm gone. If not trying to catch up on a weeks worth of posts might make my brain explode.
Ya'll be good in my absence.
That will be me...Okay, you park your hubby at one side of the gathering..wander around..stop by..collect an Uggo and a couple porcelains.. a couple golden laced frizzle polish...go back and say, "I have no idea how I got these..."
You are just trying to hone in on my Cadbury egg, aren't you?
Those eggs are on ebay..someone should get them and hatch them out...*hint*...
At least someone did!I totally sang it in my head when it read it.![]()
Yeah... I am pretty sure they laugh about it and tell their friends too...I have always believed that birds can, and do aim..............![]()
That is gross!!!!Backyard Farm Mom, that's nothing..... my mom had a friend who's kid came to our house when i was a teen and he hid in the bathroom and ATE our gel air freshener! Thing didn't even smell good, i don't want to think about taste...... Some kids will eat anything.
And don't worry, i would tell someone if they offended me, not just rush out and call a mod. I'm pretty thick skinned, just not where animal cruelty is concerned.
That is awesome!Well, I just came in to cool off a bit and open a beer, back to the wood chips. Last night I installed a bottle opener I picked up at the hardware store on the underside of our computer desk. (We have a really long desk we made so DH and I could have our computers at the same desk.) I put it right in the middle. The look on DH's face last night when I got beers out, reached under the front lip of the desk, popped the top off, and handed one to him was priceless!!![]()
I got swimmers itch once (my mom told me not to go swimming...) and had to be put on some sort of steroid... it made me nutty! IwastalkingsofastyoucouldnottellwhatIwassaying!!!! My mom told me to shut up on several occasions that week or two...Speaking of kids, I feel like such an awful mother even though I know I'm not. My DD is being weaned off her current medication and it is creating such havoc on her poor system. I have literally made her cry at least a dozen times since Wednesday without even trying to. She has gone into a super sensitive mode and a simple word can start the waterworks. It's going to be such a long week....
