BYC friends, we have had a loss and I'm wondering if any of you can help. My DD was raising Muscovys and a dog got into the garage... Well I'm sure you can figure out the rest.
I was wondering if any of you had a couple Muscovys you would be willing to part with or know where I could get some. Any help is appreciated, my DD is devastated!!

Stacy, that was funny as heck. Cracked me up.

Today was Celebrate Learning day as Jace's school. Normally we don't go, I don't like a lot of people in little places... Well we went and had a good time. It was all about nursery rhymes. Did 8 different projects... Old Mother Hubbard, Humpty, Spider, Jack, fish counting, twinkle, bah bah black sheep... and something else....

Well anyway. I think I want to find a new home for the ducks... Any one want some laying ducks? They are buffs and campbells... Why? Well, I'd like to say its for some noble reason... like I don't have time to take care of them, but that is not true. Its this... 1, can't get anyone to want to buy the eggs... 2, We feed more of the eggs back to the chickens, and 3, because we don't eat the eggs as fast as they lay them, they are not cost effective for me, if you get what I am saying. They do not pay for themselves. For someone who likes to eat duck eggs a lot, then they'd be perfect. But people round here are freaked out over eating duck eggs. I can give them away, but people don't want to buy them. SO, For anyone HERE only, you want the girls, you can have them and their coop. Yup... Just like that. The ducks, their bowls, and their house. You just needs provide food and a yard. Hell, you can even have their boat. FREE!

So, Who is it who has Buck the Duck and wants a girl? I have 4 lovely ladys if you want to come get them... If its a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, I could meet half way with them... Only I wouldn't be able to bring the boat or the duck house... No truck.

Gotta go and take the kids for a walk about. SO, be back later.

All right, it looks like I have at least 4-5 roos from my Easter hatch that I need to get rid of. I just posted them to Craigslist but they are free to any BYC member who wants to give them a good home. I can bring them to Chickenstock. Just let me know. Here they are:

I think this is a mixed breed. We are devistated that this one is looking so rooish...he is so pretty

Here is our little Lakenvelder roo

OK so this is either a Cuckoo Maran or a BR/Maran X (and he's BIG...look at the picture below)

Blue Andalusian boy (amongst the boys...) I am not possitive that the other blue andalusian is a boy but I could have 2 (ARG!) --sorry I couldn't get a good picture of his head but he's got a big comb but you can see how pretty his feathers are. (blue boy on the left)

here is a picture of the questionable blue one....maybe a pullet??

Jaime - Lakenvelder is real good looking. If the one you think is a marans came from my eggs it is purebred Cuckoo Marans. It looks like you have
one rooster and one pullet in the blue's. If they are Andalusion then they are crossed with the Lakenvelder. Legs aren't colored right. Should be slate. They could be from my blue marans hen or my blue splash marans hen and be mixed with Cuckoo. If they are Marans then they are pure Marans, just Blue and Cuckoo mixed.

Me?? Or another Laura?

I was wondering what the normal amounts DE comes in... in PEdge they have a 5oz jar for $10... I will have to do some research...
...
The last bag I bought, which wasn't even a month ago, was from TSC. 20 pound bag for either $11.99 or $12.99.

Ok someone this morning said they had lost a chick from failure to thrive, I thought it was msue but now I can't find it. Anyway I was thinking about a chick I have that this describes. After losing the one for unknown reasons I thought I needed to pay more attention to the one and see if I could tell what was going on. The chick is a showgirl but is fully feathered. I named it Yeti because it is so heavily feathered. She is always in the corner, not eating and getting pushed around. Since I moved them to the new coop it has been much worse. I always find her down stairs in a corner and not eating. She felt a little weak so I brought her in. I thought maybe her feathers were giving her trouble seeing so I trimmed up around her eyes. She very rarely opens her eyes at all. Then I put her in a tote and gave her an eye dropper of water and put a food dish with her. No eating. Then I put food in my hand and in front of her, won't eat. I rattled the food in the dish and she dived in. Duhhh she's blind. She scratching and eating up a storm right now. So what to do. She would make a great therapy bird but how to care for her? Anyone want a house chicken? The pictures are AFTER her feather trim.

Well, I have been collecting quotes since sometime yesterday, and I still haven't gotten the chance to reply to them. Maybe I can later, and hopefully by then the quotes alone won't take up a whole page.

I spent some time yesterday chopping done cherry branches that needed to come back, and some of the young cherry trees there just aren't room for, and today I built an arbor with some of them. It is about 10 feet tall. I am going to put our new grape vines on it. When I finish the garden, anyway. I have almost finished distributing the woodchips, and... I really, really hate to say this, but... I think I need more.

Anyway, really bad picture, sorry, but here it is. It is far from perfect, but... for my absolute lack of any experience whatsoever, I will take it and be happy enough. I still need to stake the corners in, but I have had enough for today.

I have several injuries, lol... a couple due simply to trying to deal with its monstrous size, (I really could have used a second person at sooo many stages of building this!) One from, yes, actually hitting my own hand with the hammer, (I have never done that before, I feel like I've joined an exclusive club,) right in the muscle between my thumb and forefinger, hard enough to split it open, ow, and one I sustained while dremeling the tips off the nails. One of those smokin hot tips managed to shoot straight down my hoody sleeve, errk. I have a nice little burn from that.
