you need an aloe vera plant, very good for burns.

Believe it or not, we have 2 very huge aloe plants in our living room. I didn't even think about them. It's okay, though, I have a burn cream that we got from the Dr when my oldest DD burned herself in cooking class at school a few months ago. Works pretty good.

Tonight was my son's Baccalaureate. Only about half of his class even showed for it which I think is a total shame. It's too bad that they chose to miss out on the experience. Next up is the big day. And on that note...

Theron- I really hope you have a wonderfully fantastic day tomorrow. Congratulations.

HH- that is such a sweet little photo of momma and chick

I was going to say, your crabby neighbor thought she didn't like you having chickens and ducks, just wait till she gets a load of that skunk!

Snowflake - thanks! I worry about them getting into the pool and drowning. We have a 6' fence around it, and no one has flown in yet, but I know they could if they really wanted to, especially because there are also a lot of trees right up to the fence.

Robin - Sorry

HH - Adorable!

Fuzzybutt - I'm sorry, at least you know you did what you could.

Mish - I have always thought that opossums already look like zombies.

In addition to aloe, honey is very good for treating burns and other wounds. Much more effective than pharmaceutical stuff made in a lab.

I skipped my BS ceremony and the MS graduation as well. I suppose it is important for some people but I just don't see the reason for it. But that's just me.

Congratulations on your son's Baccalaureate.

Raz, I really did want to know more about your taxonomy courses. I love going into the woods and knowing the names of what I'm seeing. Is that kind of the gist? School me.

RaZ, taxonomy souds really cool. Was it all plant based?
Right now I'm in Lifespan Development. I'm about 2/3 done with a masters program for professional counseling.
They were. I had several classes on native plant taxonomy. Trees, shrubs, aquatics and native wildflowers. i opted out of the herps and entomology classes. Not that I don't like those subjects. I'm just more of a vegetative kind of person.

Yeah, that would be awesome! "...vegetative kind of person" is an excellent phrase.

I was on craigslist today and noticed that Cadillac has a small animal (including fowl) swap on Saturday mornings at the fair grounds. Anyone ever been? Is it any good?

Need to rest now so I can do it all again tomorrow.

I had wonderful professors at EMU, who are plant people. We were taught keying skills and relied on the books by Voss, Barnes, Wagner and Chadde. We collected plant specimens and pressed them for our projects.

I would love to school you on the gist of the classes, but the unfortunate reality is that the more I learned, the more I seemed to forget. I don't do well on structured tests.

I tend to forget the names of plants but I have the resources to look them up when I see them. Or give me a few minutes and I might remember the names.

I don't expect you to impart the learning of entire courses. I just wanted to be sure I knew what a taxonomy class would mean. I have plenty of books on plants. I just have to focus on my books about people these days. ;)
