Does anyone here, who is coming to Chickenstock, have white silkies? I would like ONE...let me know if you do and how much.

Also, M2...what will I owe you for the Uggo and the two other...whatever they are? lol Those little tan-ish ones. Those are girls or you don't know?

Back to work I go!
Jen has white silkies..RIRJEN. And showgirls. And she has fluffy fluffy cuteness. I have to be careful if I go to Chickenstock without any adult supervision or I will bring home more than I should...she is dangerous..lol

You dont owe me- and dontcha know everything I hatch is girls, because I tell them they have to be.

... Only cause his mama can't say no or spank him because he had a bad experience with his heroine addicted daddy!!!
Dad hit mom... mom finally had enough and left. Good for her and her kids!!!

Been there done that- and thankfully he's only three. Mom will be wishing she corrected him more once he gets older and is a super brat. Yep I had three of them under the same life circumstances.

Oh boy, got a lot done outside today

It was soooo nice out! I finished...pretty much....putting in the veggie garden. Cleaned the rabbit barn and moved our A-frame coop over to its new location. Played with the chicks and moved the next hatch over into the hatching bator. Planted some flowers and hung out with the family.
Hey, does anyone have a bunch of Hoppes they want to part with at ChickenStock?

I snapped some pictures of the birds in the yard and thought I'd share a couple...This is George...he's king of that there pile of wood...

Here's George dancing with one of his lady friends...poor girl has been so broody lately that she looks run down...she needs to snap out of it!
Awww I LOVE George...Im glad you are coming to CS.

Hahahaha...You are NOT fat !!!!! Yup I am coming to CS. Can't wait.
Yay! Its getting close!
Did you hatch out any d'anvers?

Also, RaZ, It is illegal to own or care for a wild born native animal unless you are a licensed wildlife rehabilitator so don't let anyone know you have a skunk (I'm naughty and have injured/orphaned wild animals that I try to help a lot though, and I am glad you are helping him).
Shamrock, I wish you were coming to Chickenstock- you are a very intelligent, articulate person, and I would like to meet you.

Good Morning everyone...

I have a cold. Not fair.
Coffee's good this morning,

I just put the gold-laced Polish on lockdown. The porcelain d'uccles eggs were a flop. Of 18, I only had two make it to lockdown. What a disappointment- everyone wanted some, of all the eggs most were infertile- or, not developing at all....however you want to call it.
Then the rest were quitters from the first week.

Everyone have a great day. Ive got work and I have to stop at my kids school to pay for band camp for them this morning.

They leave the nest once they have the ability to fly, usually around 12-14 weeks of age.

Another week is underway and it looks as if if is going to be on the cool side. Not exactly the best growing conditions for our gardens.

As soon as I can get a little more coffee in me I'm headed for my brother's place to help him install new fencing. We got about 500' installed last time and only have about 2500' more to go. With a post every 15' that's still alot more posts to go.

Opa - What's the weather over your way? Here they're calling for mid-70s to mid-80s with lows mostly in the 60s .... great garden weather. I hope they're not mistaken. I'm looking forward to the weather just as much as the garden.

Good morning michigan, sunny and cool here today.

My porcelein DU eggs also scored a zero out of two separate hatches - one chick that died in the first day.

Opa, what kind of posts are you putting in?

Now that all depends on if they were raised with chickens. Yes, they are LGD's. My herd dog is a Border Collie. My last Pyrenees killed my chicken but he wasn't raised with them either. He never bothered her as long as she wasn't in with the sheep but as soon as she got into the sheep pen it was all over. Same way with cats. If they stayed out of the sheep pen he never bothered them. Would even let them eat with him. But once in the sheep pen they were fair game. I never corrected him for this because basiclly he was doing what he was supposed to be doing. Hope this helps.
Thanks that helps,
Nice baby calf Daron...Congrats.

Got some new babies here as well, 2nd of June I hatched out 6 out of 7 pure white Canadian strain of Chantecler's

AWWWW very sweet,

Thanks Opa did not know that,

It is supposed to be a nice pleasant day here. Mid 70's with a slight breeze. It will be a good day for working outside.

I should spend some time to lay out the pattern of the new kitchen floor. Once the new counter top gets here, I'll want to gut the kitchen and replace everything. Looks like I just gave myself a plan for the day.

I just had amazing luck with a hatch of Araucana eggs here! My adult Araucanas are all tufted, which means a resulting hatch will have approximately 50% tufted chicks, 25% cleanfaced, and 25% dead in shell. Eight of eleven eggs hatched, and SEVEN are tufted. So an 87% of the hatch is tufted! Absolutely amazing.

These chicks, plus the ones due next week, will be the foundation Araucana flock for Laura877. And wow, what a flock it shall be!
