OK! I spent a fun 2 hours at Juise's house. I tell ya, those kiddos of her are so cute. Was nice talking to another adult for a few hours. And yes, she for REAL had a black widow in an old baby jar for me. No, wasn't interested. NO, I already have brown recluse around here, I don't need widows also. NO NO NO
Yes, Juise, I would gladly help you out with the excess veggies. I got the pachysandra laid out around the run, and also on the east side of the house where NOTHING is. I have to put chicken wire/poultry net to protect it. The first thing Skatter did when I got up from planting, was to take her chicks in and start digging out the bugs that were in there. Then Skeeter went with her chicks to the other side. GAH! So, took care of that problem. About the sedum(SP?), I was looking at where I could put it in the yard, and the only place that I have that is still a problem area for me if along my retaining wall. However, I would have to get a yard of soil first, add landscape timbers as a box, then fill in with plants that take little sunlight. I need to to move some of the grasses I was telling you my brats were destroying, they are taking over the irises. Going to kill/smother them out if I don't cut it back and out. I guess I could move those. I have a huge grouping of them on the east side of my front yard if you are interested in any, your more than welcome to pick some out at the end of the season. I am thinking though, that the phlox may be my best bet for the retaining wall area, since the soil is poorer there, and I could get away with just putting a few inches of good top soil over that area, and the phlox should take hold not problem, as long as I net over it for a few weeks first.
John fixed my lawn mower last night, so was finally able to mow the front lawn today. WOO HOO! It was looking crappy. I usually mow in circles, but this time I just mowed it back and forth, north to south. Actually looks nicer that way. Now I just need a lawn rake to get up all the grass clippings so I can just dump it in the chickens run, or in the way back. Start a compost heap out behind the shed instead of compost bins.
Well, my feet and knees are killing me, and I have to work tomorrow morning, so I think I will go and put my feet up for a short while, before I go to bed.
Ferns... I'd love to have a fence line full of ferns and ivy...
