I wanted to show the difference between these 2 and see if you think one is a roo
This is Marsala... I think she is a she.

This is Hunan... I think he is a he.

See his pretty purple wattles??? And his handsom walnut comb that he loves to have itched for him?

I think Hunan is a boy too... They are so weird looking! LOL. Cute but weird.

My little Hawk's eye seems to be less red today. I do believe it is from an altercation with what ever she had her face in. LOL. Roger jumped her today, and she just lay there when he was finished like she was dead afraid to move, and he proceeded to peck her head, and do a dance around her until she finally stood up and shook herself out, at which point he walked away. Dork.

I started an article about my first year with chickens. I will post it as soon as I am finished. I am hand writing it first. I have never been good at sit down computer writing. Well, except for when I write short novellas here. BUT, I mean I do much better with pen and paper when it requires a lot of interruptions from life. Well anyway, I hope to be able to sell the article to the local paper. Wish me luck, or something. Maybe to the hobby farm mag, but I am aiming for my local paper first. I will post it on its own thread so as to not take up everyones time skimming through it. It is already 4 hand written pages, so two typed, and I am only getting to the first dog casualty.

Anyway. I weeded the veggie patch early this afternoon and then took the boys to DeAnna's Playhouse. We get home from that, collect the second round of eggs, since half my girls lay in the mid afternoon, and head on in the house to eat. Jace goes back out to go adventuring in the yard, comes running back yelling that I just had to see what the chickens were doing. SO, I go out, he points in the direction of the veggie patch and there is a chicken throwing dirt... I was like NOOOOO!!! And I get over there, Roger and 6 of his charges are dust bathing in the only spot that has no edible vegatatoin They were all together in one great mass of dirt and feathers..

yup.. their are a total of 7 chickens... 4 silkies and 3 wyandottes.. LOL.

Randy's Orphanarium has just added 2 one-week old mallards.

I'll have to post some pictures for Juise.

I'll bring the baby snapper to Chickenstock for you

Ok... For the freaking heck of it, I just binged Mr. Fluffers. HAHA! He is there! How funny.

I have been searching for different faverolles colors. Specifically blacks. I have a black hen, muffs and beard, she lays the same color eggs as Fia and Buffy did, has the dark legs, fully feathered feet and legs, and five toes. Beard and muffs that are just as full as Loralie's. Anyway, I think she may actually be one. I thought at first she might be a cochin with those feathered feet, but the five toes... I was looking at cochin pics, and didn't really find any that look like her, Not the muffs or the beard. The body, sure... Well anyway, That got me to type in Mr. Fluffers. HAHA. Oh my goodness. I wander if he's google-able.
