Taylor is crazy, why make regulations it can't possibly enforce? I can't see the police going door to door checking for bird baths and feeders lol. My parents built a house on 5 acres next to my grandma and her 35 acres and their other neighbor asked them to move their new bird feeder because it caused the birds to fly over and poop in his pool.

Now note that i didn't say the mean orp was out, she and her babies were in with the goats.
You really have a mean orp???? I thought I was the only one on the planet with mean orps. My three are just plain evil, I contemplate how good they'll taste on a daily basis

I know many towns especially those with beaches, have regulations against feeding birds, mainly water fowl. There have been several cases of beaches shutting down due to a high presence of E. coli. I recall that Traverse City ended up closing their beaches during the Cherry Festival, which ended up having a pretty damaging economic impact. Tourists couldn't hit the beach during the hot days of the festival, so they decided not to come at all or left early.

The regulations have sensible intentions, by feeding wild animals you are attracting them into and concentrating them to a single area. That can cause serious problems, E. coli, other diseases and parasites, attracting larger animals that prey on the small ones, and even creating infestation problems. It may be nice to see the birds and have a few to look at, but you can over do it and create a small ecological disaster.

Well, I'm home from another city council meeting. The editor of the local paper called me today and hinted that there may be some loose play regarding the rules and regulations of council meetings and suggested that I attend since they were going to talk chickens again.

I didn't see or hear anything that suggested the governing process wasn't operating as chartered. However, the process is painfully slow in gathering information. I did publicly restate my offer to help council understand the pros and cons of poultry. Once again, a citizen claimed that chickens "cause rats and disease".

Another citizen asked why the citizens had so much information and council seemed to be so clueless. That brought a few chuckles from the audience. Another citizen said afterwards to me, that his straw poll was 3 to 3 (1 council member was absent). So I have some more educating to do.

The local paper is coming out tomorrow or Wednesday for an interview and photographs. I'm a bit nervous about that but sometimes you simply have to raise your head above the crowd and make your case. I'm glad I live in America and get a chance to voice my opinion before I'm beheaded.

M2M, I suggest that you call PD on behalf of your mother and report on the senior abuse. Get it on record. Also call your county commissioner and do the same. I will call my commissioner tomorrow and find out who represents you and your Mom. Diane sits on the Senior Alliance of Wayne County.

Those are so beautiful, Mish!
*sending vibes that my name is called first or second*

RIRJEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see your name, and I instantly feel all my willpower leaving my body...and we arent even there yet.

....wait...not waving my hands over chicks...the whole willpower leaving thing...LOL

Aha... my plan seems to be working by bringing Glambka's beautiful eggs. Maybe Opa's chickens won't go so fast from the raffle table.

ok. crossing fingers,
she really scared me the other day, she wasn't herself. I almost gave up, then the next day she was clear-eyed. Must've know somehow, i have been through a lot with her and her unwillingness to give up has always amazed me.

Also, the day before that i had lanced the top part between her toes that i keep wondering if needs surgery too, and her scab, and soaked again quite a bit and smeared a ton if antibiotic ointment on the whole shebang.

holy cow, you've been battling this foot thing for awhile right? Poor baby :( Might be easier to amputate and strap her to a skateboard!! Is she able to walk? It's bumble foot right?

Ive been reading ordinances for a couple hours- cannot find anything on feeding birds. However, my parrot is illegal, along with anything besides a combination of dogs, cats, nonbreeding rabbits- for a total of 3.

Rock solid no way around it NO on all fowl.

I discovered that you may not use power tools after eight pm...

but nothing on feeding birds.

Ferrret- this is a residential community, old homes- been the same neighborhood for forty years. No water in the area, there arent even toads in the lawns in that part of Taylor.
They complained because a squirrel sat on their Taj Ma Hal and dropped a peanut shell. The house behind my mom has three bird houses erected, and next door on the other side of her, the house has been empty for about six years. Maybe longer, actually.

Thank you Randy-
and I am waiting for you to win in Garden City, and then I will have you come be a representative here in Taylor and try and get chickens allowed again. Amongst the gang members and druggies and pit bull fighting rings in Taylor.
