I may have some turkey eggs, any tips on how to clean them out? [rule] I finally got my parents shower enclosure done at midnight last night. Man that grout can eat up your hands! But it looks good and they're happy! The glass tile is really nice and I hope to use some similar in my place. All that dad has to do is some caulking and install the hardware! try to stay cool folks!
Glad to see you finished. Looks wonderful. I have become addicted to the glass tiles too. I accented with them in my kitchen and bath.

??? I wonder what the reasoning for such laws would be..........

A few days ago you all were talking about cheap wines, the one i like is the arbor mist "blackberry merlot" Has to be arbor mist, with the black bottle not the knockoff one with the clear bottle. Better than a wine cooler, no funny fruity beer taste It is a sweet wine, and thus far the only one i enjoy at all. I haven't tried their other flavors, i just can't bring myself to depart from the blackberry for fear that it will be awful.
Fuzzy, I agree on the Arbor Mist. But I like my wines diluted with Perrier in the summer. We make most of our own wines (cuz we are cheap) and we just made one that is incredible. Normally I don't like sweet, but this is a bit on the sweetish side, and mixed with Perrier and ice, it's a really fabulous summer (well, when we get summer) drink. It's made with blood oranges. The persimmon and mead was good too. I'm planning on raiding the local grocery hut for peaches this week, after I remove the pineapples from the freezer to give me room for more fruit!

I have been away for a while - sick goat. Missed a lot of posts.

M2M - I simply can't believe it. When you think of all the taxes we pay and the state of the economy, and then what we get in return is tickets for feeding birds!?!?!?! I was aghast at our city recently, with all the new landscaping, and the new park with ponds they put in and then raising taxes because the city is running out of funds!

I think perhaps a campaign of letters, emails and phone call to our local reps, newspapers, radios TV channels, etc might help.

RAZ - good on ya sport, going to them council meetings. I used to do that to. Maybe take it up again.

I have missed so much - better go pack a week and try to catch up on posts. Later chaps

For anyone interested in Basque marraduna chickens (Euskal Oiloa), I could bring a trio to chickenstock. This would be for someone interested in breeding, as they are very rare in this country and I and other afficionados would like to see them become more widespread. They will be brought along only if someone wants them. Learn more about them here

They are big, handsome dual purpose birds that lay a lot of nice brown eggs. Temperament reminds me of my speckled sussex, very friendly.

PM me if interested, three price will be reasonable for someone who will help establish a bigger population of these birds.

I also have or two extra Norwegian Jaerhon pullets available for someone looking for an excellent forager and efficient egg layer of white to tinted cream eggs. They are not as docile as the Basques, but that's probably what makes them such good foraging birds. They are also very pretty. I have all the boys in a grow our pen for the freezer, but could bring a pair if someone wanted to breed. They are very handsome! See them here

HOT HOT HOT!

Ok... I noticed yesterday that one of my hens seems a bit droopy in the comb. Bit of yucky poo... Today, her comb is nearly flat. She is walking around, panting, but so is everyone, dropping really really green diarhea. Now, I checked for egg stuck, nope, and her crop feels normal. She does feel a bit on the light side, even though she is eating. I am not sure if she is laying. The poo is almost a pine green and very very runny. She is the only one exhibiting any symptoms, and I am thinking maybe this is worms? I do not feel any squishiness in her breast area which may indicate a liver/fluid build up. Again, she is walking ok, in fact the first one to come running to me the minute I got home, and let me pick her up very easily, which isn't NOT normal for her, so I guess she is telling me to fix her up... Does this sound like worms?

Happy Aniversary Kimmie.

Happy Anniversary!!!!

Gave the poor chickies some ice water this morning... they were very happy!

Today I have some friends coming over for a duel birthday celebration!!! I share my birthday today with a girl that I met in 1st grade. We were born in the same hospital, almost in the same room, an hour apart!!!
We talked about having a bon fire... but who wants to make more heat in this craziness??? I hope it cools off well tonight.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, KIMMIE!

Nova - very green poo usually means they are not eating much...you might think of ways to encourage them to eat. In this weather, I like to give frozen veggies such as peas, spinach, etc. - you can put it in a feed pan & let it unthaw...they'll peck at it (the spinach especially since it's in a big chunk - the kind in a box) as it unthaws, and it'll keep them cooler, too.

Happy anniversary, kimmie and Taprock
