She can have what is suppose to be mine hahahaha
ha! You wish..its a bonding thing, Robin...embrace it.
All right... I swear, if its not one thing, its another. I just went to get milk from the gas station 1/2 mile away... ran something over, and now I have a dang hole in my tread. Fix a flat did not work. I put it in, and filled it with air, then hauled booty home... Made it home... air is still coming out... SO, gonna have to plug it. If I can't plug it... going to have to buy a new dang tire. If I have to buy a new tire... I will not be meeting no one saturday. NOT COOL! And where is my spare? Oh... in a shed locked up... Where John got evicted from. GREAT!!!!!!
oh noooo...I just had to get a stupid tire. Hole in the sidewall. unrepairable. Same thing as the other front tire a couple months ago. Now all four are new, I had to do it one at a time though...which probably means the back one is old again..
Don't worry, m2, I'll pick RB's uggos up and bring them back this way for her.

Hi all,
I don't post much but I thought I'd pop in and say hello. I'm getting pretty excited about Chickenstock. We were all just talking at dinner tonight about how much fun we had last year. We got our cayuga ducklings and we even won a pullet from the raffle(we named her Delta Mills).

Weather prediction for Saturday sounds great-mostly sunny with high of 82 and 0% chance of rain.

See you all soon!
Natalie
P.S. I'll be the 8 1/2 month pregnant lady trying to find shade.

Ahh yes but I only see you once a year because you live....nowhere near me! Well, with the exception of that summer when your brother brought me birds from you like 4 times lol
yeah, thats true..my brother doesnt live there any more, either.

Would anyone be interested in heat therapy pillows? The kind you warm up in the microwave. I make them... I am going to donate one or two... I don't have anything chickenie to donate (But the material print has a few on it)
I do not make them scented...Some people don't like the smelly ones. ie: lavender.
PS my BF thinks he will get man breasts from lavender

MEEEEEEEE.
and p.s,,,,now every time I see your bf I am going to think, "man boobs"..thanks. My husband must have sniffed ALOT of lavender.
I don't normally eat poultry, but I may have to try a bite. They look amazing.
they are soooooooooo good, we wait all year for Sam's chicken.
To be fair, they usually use other words for it.

NOVA...

how about if I put Chimichanga in with the silkies and we call it even?
Just DO NOT tell my kid please, what you will do with him. She only gets attached to roosters and goosers, apparently. AND this morning, he announced to everyone on this block anyhow, that it is time for him to go. My husband wont take care of it- he told me to take him *Chimi* with me tomorrow.
SOOOOOOOOOOO, I can just pretend he is a silkie...

Question....When chickens molt, do they molt all at the same time? I've noticed one of my BSL is starting too at the neck but the others still look fine.

I ment to post this first but got really excited when I saw what Hillbilly had been making. lol

If there is a lot of nice stuff at CS that is so tempting to buy I think I might get myself into trouble and come home with an empty wallet!
don't know if any one answered,,,mine do not molt all at the same time, Be glad they stop laying, I have 2 with no neck feathers, but I think they are being picked on,
The sky was so pretty tonight.

I saw that same rainbow yesterday AM when I went out to feed the hens. LOVE rainbows,,,,,,nice view
x2

Nova can you get one from a cheap discount store to last for a short time so you can get to CS? DD has to do this often when $ is short

Dang, this is early for me, but I guess getting up at 7 am will just be practice for getting up at 6 tomorrow to meet 1muttsfan over in Grayling at 8! Used to be able to sleep later, figured I'd be able to today since it dropped to 54 outside last night and I had the windows opened and got the house cooled down to 65, SOOOO nice! But no, I still woke up several times and then decided might as well get up at 7 and check the site before y'all get too busy yakking. But then as Opa says waking up is a good thing.

And I've got a ton of pasta to boil and cucumbers and tomatoes to dice and chickens to wrangle and applesauce pickles to sneak out of the house for the raffle. Guess I better hit the exercise bike and get my day started!

eeeeee!!! That's a lot of coons!! While I haven't seen any at our place yet, I'm sure it's just a matter of time with tasty chicks near the edge of the woods. I'm crossing appendeges that having the dogs' yard between the woods and the chicken pen will be a decent deterrent. Either way it's probably be in out best interest to keep an eye out for a .22 since our other rifles have somewhat spendy ammuntion, and would probably make a mess of a varmit that size.

My shade/mesh tarps came today!!

I managed to get the one bungeed to the run all on my own, with a sleeping 6mo old strapped to my back. I'm REALLY hoping the chicks will actually come OUT from under the coop now. They spend 90% of their time under there, which is understandable because the coop and run get sun all.day.long. (And it's only 74 here right now, so I'm wondering about this heat you all speak of?) The other tarp is for over the sandbox. Ya know, if I ever get around to ordering some sand.

I might beg DH to teach me how to run the circular saw this weekend so I'm not dependant on him for future chicken structures. I can see that this chicken business will be easily obsessed over. I'm already eyeing up a small incubator on ebay.......

Found out yesterday that a friend of DH's keeps bees and would like to but a hive (or whatever you call them?) or 2 on out property in exchange for honey. YAAAAAAY! Free honey!
Glad, I know what you mean about being obsessed. I only wanted 10 or so hens right now I have 28 plus 4 that are my sons so thats 32 chicks, needless to say I am bringing some of the 6 week or is it 7 week old chicks to CS to sell because I am getting 4 Marans there. I know I know I should bring any other dog carrier with me so I won't be tempted but.......

Another beautiful morning is underway and the rain yesterday seems to have broken the heat somewhat. I know that it is cool enough that I can wait for the grass and bushes to dry a little before going to pick more raspberries. Yesterday's picking only resulted in enough for perhaps one batch of jam, but the bushes are loaded with berries that weren't quite ripe enough so hopefully today. Due to the lack of rain the berries are small but since they are just across the street from me, and they are free, they are well worth picking.

My neighbor planted these several years ago but it doesn't maintain them. The patch is about 20' in diameter rather than in a row so with all of the dead canes it is a little bit of hassle to pick. I've started my own and they are in a row with support wires so next year picking should be be much easier. Also I water them when I water my garden and berries need water to produce a decent crop.

By this time tomorrow I will be on the road heading for Chickenstock and I am certainly looking forward to seeing everyone from past events and all of the folks who will be joining us for the first time. I already know that the day is going to go by much to quick and hopefully I will get the opportunity to visit with everyone. I never would have dreamed that raising chickens would lead to meeting so many wonderful people.

Some good friends from Texas shared this philosophy with me, "Each one, teach one". I like that knowledge is fluid and ever-changing. It can be found and it can be lost. I've found that when I share mine, I gain as much back from those I've shared it with. Often, I get more in return.
That is sobering to me because the more I learn, the more I realize that I haven't learned enough.
Raz, I love that "the more I learn, the more I realize that I haven't learned enough", I have to tell that to me kids and their kids. I will make sure they know I got that from the Honorable Raz.
