Pity nobody is trapping beavers instead of coons. Bet though if a raccoon was cooked very slowly at say, 165f for 24 hours it would be pretty good.
I'm moving to your place because my forecast for next week shows the lower temps only through Monday, Tuesday it's back into the low 90s. I can only hope the humidity is lower, then I can stand it, mostly.
When writing your guide you might want to check the weather. I don't know when you're planning to leave, but tomorrow is supposed to be the last really hot day for a while. Next week is supposed to be down into the mid eighties for highs and sixties at night, perfect summer weather! Might save the kid some work.

Yesterday was miserable. We had a morning rain storm, the majority of it was to my north, we were on the southern edge but it just made everything stickier! Today the humidity is 75% and the temps are starting to climb though it's only 74 so far. Already walked the dogs and let all the birds out. Mine seem to be doing fine but the coop is starting to smell. Apparently, my brain is on the fritz, it occurred to me this morning that I haven't added straw in a while. Deep litter works better when you add stuff to it!

Plus it's got more birds than it should have at the moment. Don't know when DH will want to "do in" the boys, but I'm guessing they've got time yet, they're only 13 weeks.

Here's a photo of Ziggy and the chickens. He's not drooling, he's panting. He leaves them alone. Chipmunks are much more fun. And ducks for some reason.

Now and then he tries to chase a duck. I'm thinking because they run funny? They also fly so they're pretty safe and he stops when I yell. I think he must get the idea from me chasing them out of my flower beds. Consequently, I don't let them out much. Can't wait till the rest are in freezer camp!

Note that headless chicken on the right, may have to eat him first.

Unless it's a zombie chicken, probably not good for you. BRAINS!

Your dog looks to be a lab which were bred to retrieve game birds such as ducks so maybe his genetics are "egging" him on

I do drink alot, but still get heat exhaustion. I have always get headaches, and get cranky when I am hot and over-heating, and exposed to the hot sun. I always start sweating waay before anyone else starts sweating. Even my dad said that I should move to Alaska!

They are not loud right now, they make quiet baby noises. They are for eggs, looks, and protection.

You definitely have to be extra careful. People who have already had one heat injury are much more prone to them, it is almost like the threshold is lower. I remember whenever I was in ROTC and we were doing field stuff, the cadets who'd had a heat injury got tags on them, heh. But it was for a good reason, since if they started acting 'off' due to the heat, it could progress rapidly.

He's a cute little devil but I think his genetics confuse him, he's half lab and half beagle, it's really weird to hear him trailing game in the woods and yipping. He has yet to yip at the ducks though I have seen him stalking them. He stalks older sister Luna, too. She just ignores him till he pounces then she wrestles him into submission. They are so great together! I love my dogs.

Update on Baby Micah!
My sister-in-law went to her check up on Tuesday, and this is the doctor's report-
Micah is swollen, as he is retaining fluids and he is not doing well, and will die soon as he gets born.
Sister-in-law's body is getting ready for labor, and she is only 6 months along. He will be born soon, but don't know when. It could be now to a few weeks. I am so sad for all three of them.

Prayers for your family, Daron. Can't imagine how hard this is on all of you.

Why can't someone invent an anti-perspirant shampoo?? Just took a shower and went outside to check on the birds and the fish in the small pond. Added some cold water to the pond and it looks like I just stepped out of the shower with my head dripping wet! It's bad already. DD and grand kids are coming over to swim. Think I'll be inside looking out!
Keep cool!!!

DH and I scored a bunch of 4ft tall chainlink fencing off CL last night......think that would be high enough for meaties, or should we plan on putting a top on it too? Maybe just some of that cheapo deer fence for aerial predators? (and obviously an apron along the bottom for grabby-hands predators) What about for a pastured area for my current flock? I don't know if they could/would fly over it or not, and I'm too much of a nervous nellie to just let them roam about without the 4 of us kind of corraling them

We let them out 30min before they usually go in to roost the other night and 2 of them took off like it was a race! Everything I had read said they would hang out around the door for a few days, but once those 2 made a run for it, the rest were determined to follow! I'd feel a lot better if I knew they'd be confined to a 40x25ish area......
