I used to feed the duck eggs back to the chickens when I'd have to many and no one buying. I do not have excess eggs here for too long now though. There is one lady who comes every other week and will buy 5-6 dozen if I have them, or what ever I have at the time. Another lady just stops randomly. I think I am going to have to get a bar fridge and start keeping eggs in the garage and put mine and the neighbors in it, so when I don't have enough for an order, his can pick up. I do not advertise now either. People just drive by, turn around and come back and ask. LOL. I am thinking though that I might go and buy a nice piece of wood, cut a chicken shape into it, and then paint it up and hang it from my mailbox post. It'll get more of my eggs and the neighbors sold. then.

Oh yeah, one more question about the Ivermectin, sorry. I think someone said something about under the wings? Should I do a drop or two on the back of the neck, then a drop under each wing?

Nova - Thanks for the eggs offer, but, eh... I am not worried about a month without eggs... I hoped to get over it, but they totally freak me out still. I barely choke them down, they disgust me so much. If I am having something as straight forward as a fried egg, or scrambled, I hide them in a sandwich or roll them in a tortilla with salsa, heh. Then try not to think about it while I eat. And they have got to be cooked all the way through. My favourite when I was little was sunny-side-up, but the very thought of that now makes me want to spew.

Still hoping I will get accustomed to it again eventually. Starting to doubt it, though. I have a woodburning tool you can borrow if you want to use it on your sign.

Finally got hold of my sister, she's been walking. They keep her walking to avoid blood clots. Well anyway, they've gotten the results back from the testing and the drainage from the bile bags they put back in. Looks like the round y surgery is a bust. They'll decide thursday if they are just going to just cut half the liver off. Now to decide what hospital.

Okay.. Ivermectin Pour-on. I picked it up today and am going to treat tonight assuming I can get this worked out. There seems to be conflicting information all over the cursed place, so I wanted to bounce it off you guys first. These seem to be the most accepted standards I could find, agreed?

1 drop - OEGB sized small bantam female
2 drops - OEGB sized small bantam male
3 drops - average bantams
4 drops - large bantams, small commercial fowl
5 drops - most commercial fowl, small giant hens
6 drops - giant breeds of chicken
Hi Juise! The Vet at M.S.U. said 1 drop for bantams and 2 drops for standard size chickens. He made the comment of 'don't use paste' so I am assuming you have drops and not paste. He said if a chicken owner doesn't want to eat the eggs, please send them to him because he has no concerns at all about eating the eggs after giving Ivermectin.

Oh my, how about Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic? Just google the phone numbers and call them. Once I ran into a medical snafoo and went to Mayo Clinic. They took my insurance, cleared up the problem and the only expense I had was getting there and back. I think your sister needs the big guns now......

FYI add to your vet list. Companion Animal in Shelby Mi will treat chickens. The vet there keeps chickens herself and is more than happy to do fecl/parasite test without having to take the bird in.

Thanks, CG! The pour-on I have is not paste, it is liquid.

I would send him the eggs, but only if he'd cover shipping. Do you think I should e-mail him and ask? I still have the address saved. I wish I could just not worry about it, but I am not in the financial position to make that decision.

Your poor sister, I am keeping her in my thoughts.

took some pics of the new chicks from chickenstock. I love the dark feathers spouting from the top of the littlest ones head, don't know what breed it is (mix i assume) but I hope it is a hen. The speckled sussex is funny. .

Is this one you got from me? Looks like one of mine :) Without seeing the tail feathers I don't know for sure...but I'm also guessing Rooster. It's sometimes hard on these guys though. The body posture (sp?) of the girls is just as upright as the boys. Is the comb a pale pink or redish? I'll have to get a good shot of my lil' Reggie the rooster...he's 100% boy!

Is it a roo because of the white chest? I also got a SS from chickenstock. I have no idea if its a roo or not. I was thinking it might be because of the tail... But I can't really tell from the comb... I am going to go catch that little sucker soon. They totally freak out at me still. HEHE, unless I am giving them something.
Nope, they get the white on thier chest and as their feathers come in they lose all the white on thier chest for speckles all over thier body. Like I said above you can't tell by body posture...you have to go by the color of the comb for the most part. If it's a pale pink and relatively short (like up and down...not tip to tip) it's a pullet. I'll try to snap a picture of a young pullet and a young cockerel for you guys.

Someone on injuries / cures just told me Ivermectin does not treat lice on chickens because they don't suck blood, while the lice cattle get do suck blood. Did I miss something here, or am I just suffering from more "everyone has a different opinion"?
