We gave her all the shots, and 2 of my youngest sister and I stayed up late trying to help her give birth, but my parents called us in for bed. At 6 am I went to check on her, she was still warm with a part of the the piglet's head out of the birth canal. Poor girl, even though she was the ugliest one and was for meat for our family this fall, I felt bad for her. My siblings buried her with her piglets in the ga

my chickens don't live inside but I consider many of them pets,, if not I would not keep a cross beak and make sure she has dishes she can eat from nor a chick with a crocked deformed hip and leg, she hops around on 1 leg and comes to get picked up every time I go to the coop, she eats from my hand while sitting in my lap, does that count as a pet?

I have a cat that will not sit in my lap I still consider her a pet also. what is the definition of a pet?

Olive - this is not snarky this is an honest question. What do you do when a pig has babies stuck that are too big to come out?

You go in and pull them out manually.

ETA: For clarity, by "go in" I mean vaginally. In extreme cases a cesearan is an option just as in any other stock, but for the most part (also as with other stock) usually you assist vaginally and you would always exhaust that option first.

All the troule being reported - must be the blasted heat, and/or drought! I''m babysitting 4 holstiens, 5 herefords, and a horse while my neighbor relaxes up near Grayling for the week. Hot as Hades too!

Kimmie, ACD ( Jillaroo) is kickin butt and taking names.

Mom, hope Clover is staying cool.

Darron, sending you a PM little buddy. Hoping you keep one of the other piglets to the take place of Porkchop (more on that later).

Momma K, whens the open house, wine party, big shindig? We just about need some more wine. The stuff you left us in Muskegon is mostly a distant memory!

HH, Hello! How's my NH's? Is that pesky fox still there. I could loan you some traps? Fox are just that "foxy".

Well, too much darn work to do. Need to pickle some Bananna Peppers. Anyone need a ton of sweet basil?

Peace, John

Raz - My chickens are pets, I don't make any money off of them and I have yet to eat any of them.

It's rather ignorant to proclaim that people don't keep chickens as pets, considering the variety of animals people do keep as pets.

Poor girl, even though she was the ugliest one and was for meat for our family this fall, I felt bad for her. My siblings buried her with her piglets in the garden, but I am sure they did not dig very deep. May have to put something heavy over her until I till up the garden in the fall.
I had to use the razor to cut the piglet out, and as soon I pulled the piglet out, I was spattered by blood, water, and gas from where I pulled the piglet out. Then I cut her side to see if there where more piglets in there, there were 2 more, but they were huge! Much bigger then the one I had cut out. There were no way they she would have pushed them out.
