It must get out of our yard!! We might make partial trades if anyone is interested.

DB says he won't build a big one again. Everyone that bought one (this is the 9th one he's built this year) said they wished the one they bought was a little bigger. So he goes and builds a bigger one and here it still sits! All of the others sold in less than a week. UGH.
Keyt - Not to be mean or anything ( because that's not me) but you know the money problems you guys have. Money is hard to come by for lots of people right now. Especially with feed prices rising the way they are. I went and bought 50 lb of scratch the other day and it has risen $1.00 a bag. So people probably can't afford to buy things like that right now. I know I can't. With everything going up in price and now I am having to help my son with his financials I am stripped to the bare bone at least until he gets on his feet some.

I understand that. Totally, we bought feed yesterday too. We have had at least 10 calls on it this week and the only complaint anyone had was how to get it home. If we had a trailer or the ability to hitch a trailer to our truck we would transport it. No one has haggled about the price!! I am well aware of everyone's finances being difficult!!! But those that want chickens and don't want to bother with building a coop, that's why we build them. Plus that's why we say we'll take partial or maybe even a full trade (generator, etc) so we can unload. Yeah we need the money but we're not mean either and expect tons of money. We have sold 8 since April, and I think 17 last year.

Oh I know you're not mean. I wasn't saying that. If I had a trailer I would certainly let you borrow it but I don't. Did have at one time but that's another story LOL.
I know if I had the money I would certainly take it off your hands. I could borrow a trailer like the last time. And I know first hand they are well worth what Aric ask for them. I love the one I bought from you.

So anyone that thinks geese need a running start to fly needs to think again LOL.

I was going to put them in a play area so they could graze on the grass. I put the male in first and just turned my back to go get the other two. I heard him flap his wings and when I turned around toward him he was GONE!

It took me 10 minutes to direct him back to the barn. He went in and I caught him and put him back in the pen. Sunday can't come fast enough to re-home a bunch of ducks so I can try the geese with the remaining ducks. I feel bad that they're inside!

Not even 5 minutes after I came inside it started pouring!

I always thought they needed a running start. Shows how much I know about geese LOL

I am going to wait until late fall/winter to see if they go on sale at all.

That's what I probably *should* do, but I'm not known for my patience.

Check on craigslist for incubators. I actually got one for free on there right down the road! It still had the wrap and papers in it because she said she bought it with intentions but decided she didn't have time and it looked like too much work! I see them pretty cheap often on there too.
I've been checking all summer, and the closest I've found to one is "small. tin." Uhhhh......a tin incubator?

TSC has a sign on their LG incuators that says they're they "manager special" and $5 off.....but the price on the sign is the same as the price on the shelf.....so how is that $5 off?

Have you tried ebay? I bought one of mine (I have 3) on there.

Araucana and Ameracauna are different. Ameracauna AmeRAUCana( Easter Eggers) lay colored (typically blue-green) eggs and have beards and muffs.

With Araucana, if you have two parents both with the tufted gene, then yes, you can have some (about 25%) die in shell. The tufted gene is lethal. Not all of the chicks are hatched with the tufts, some are hatched with tails (though by standards should not have here in the US). A much more difficult breed.

Expecting my first Araucana chicks next week.
True Ameraucanas are NOT Easter Eggers, they are a distinct breed.

From Wikipedia
Confusion with Easter Egger chicken

The Ameraucana Breeders Club defines an Easter Egg chicken, or Easter Egger, as any chicken that possesses the blue egg gene, but doesn’t fully meet any breed description as defined in the APA standards. Further, even if a bird (that possesses the blue egg gene) meets an APA standard breed description, but doesn’t meet a variety description or breed true at least 50% of the time it is considered an Easter Egg chicken.

The American Poultry Association's American Standard of Perfection contains breed and variety descriptions of all recognized standard breed poultry in North America. This means if your bird does not meet a color requirement, it is in Easter Egger. However, it is highly unlikely to see an Easter Egger which meets all APA standards yet doesn't have the correct color. They are almost always mutt birds, or those descended from the Quechua.
While many hatcheries claim to sell "Ameraucanas", "Americanas", or "Araucanas", nearly none of them do. Most sell mutt Easter Eggers.
