Hi! I'm new to Backyard Chickens and I was hoping someone would help me figure out what type of chicken I have. I bought her and some other chicks from a feed store from a cage that was labeled "assorted bantam." See the pic for her relative size compared to a roll of paper towels. She's very docile and a good egg layer - perfect appetizer size! Any ideas.

Thank you, PoultryQueen101 - I've had trouble matching up her photo to my online search. I didn't see this breed posted on this site, but that may just be me :)
She seems so tiny to me compared to my 5 other chickens. Her personality is super sweet - she likes to hop up on my lap when I feed greens to the girls and waits for me to tear off tiny pieces of lettuce for her. Also, super-soft feathers. Thanks so much for your input - I bet you're right.

Beautiful little hen. Did you get other bantams? We've had large fowl when my husband went and got some bantams. At the time I wasn't thrilled with it, but they are adorable and so very tame. They keep running to people, want to be picked up, and follow us around. Now I have some eggs in the incubator which are hatching. We got Old English game (which I'm in love with) and a mille d'fleur booted bantam.

Hi - I agree! She's so sweet and seeks out people company. I have six chickens total in our backyard coop. The only other bantam I have is an elderly silkie. My Old English game hen, Skye (the kids named her) is noticeably smaller than the silkie. I got a Polish chicken near the same time as Skye, and it's so funny that they are best buddies and nest together - the Polish is a giant now compared to her. I'm glad to hear you love your "micro" bantams, too. :)
