About a month ago I bought a dozen MW Turkey eggs and received 14. I put them in the incubator and I now am the proud "TOM" of 12 little ones. I just finished pinioning them (I hate that, but a necessary evil I suppose). All appear ok.

Why is it necessary to pinion them? I thought only domestic geese needed to be pinioned.

Turkeys, especially young ones fly.
Muscovy ducks and a few other specie fly.
Many specie of chickens fly
Some geese fly

If you don't want the birds to fly, especially if you have close neighbors you have four choices: don't have any birds, clip their wings, pinion them or enclosed aviary with netting on top. My chickens are in an enclosed aviary and are not pinioned, but my ducks are all pinioned and now my turkeys are too.
