Might be an interesting day at work

Had the police NOT shot the animals and some kid was at a bus stop and got mauled or killed, people would be calling for the police department's collective heads.

It's a no-win situation for the animals and the officers.

saw it like 5 min. ago. I wish they had just put the animals in a nother zoo. not killed them. But since they were loose and could have killed people I would have done the same thing.

The main reason why they had to shoot them was the fact that they were used to humans. They depended on humans to bring them their food and care for them. What stops a grown hungry tiger to run over the next human because they werent fed in a while. There was just no way to organize a large scale live capture operation. Nobody is prepared for that. One or two escaped animals can be caught ,but 50 ? I feel bad for the animals, but humans go first.

You all are making good points! I got caught up in the sad animal deaths - but not the logic! Thanks!
It probaly all moved to fast and furious to really organize more of a capture- tranquilize thing. At least some made it !

There was another thread about this too. Very sad. A perfect example of an irresponsible pet owner to the extreme.

I've only heard speculation that the owner took his own life. My first thoughts were that maybe foul play was involved and perhaps the owner had nothing to do with the animals escaping.

Me too.

If your going to kill yourself, why open all the cages so your animals could be slaughtered?
