Mild case of bumblefoot

Hello, BYC yesterday I noticed a mild case of bumblefoot on two of my ducks. I don't feel confident enough to do a at home surgery, but I have a friend who has dealt with this hundreds of times who agreed to help me out. He isn't available till Saturday though. Is there anything I can do in the mean time till he can help out? Like apply iodine, soak in epsom salt, or bandage the feet?

In my opinion you don't need surgery for that bumblefoot. What I have had success with for beginning bumbles is just dipping a toothbrush in colorless iodine and brushing the bumble, then keeping them out of the water for ten minutes. Do this twice a day and it should go away on its own in time. The foot looks pretty good and I wouldn't cut it open. In the meantime review your surfaces and just make sure you don't have sharp edges or areas where their feet can get little cuts.

My friend came over today and looked at their feet. He said that it wasn't bumblefoot, but those bumps where just calaces. It would make since because they used to slap their feet on my concrete patio and walking across the road a lot(they don't do it anymore). That would probably explain why they have had these bumps since July of this year and why they haven't gotten bigger or smaller even with applying iodine and epsom salt soaks. The limping has also stopped. I think he just hit his foot really hard on the ground while hovering. So nothing to worry about.
