Mill Food Recycler for chickens

I agree. All of that poster’s content seems very invested in promoting that “product”.
I didn’t want to click on the link provided in the OP. So I did my own google search. This is a bona fide product. I’m not convinced yet that you could feed the processed food scraps to chickens, but this article from Chowhound was interesting:

Time will tell if this kind of kitchen waste processing becomes an established thing.

Yeah, a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I can buy a lot of chicken feed for $800 and just tossing the scraps to the chickens doesn't require chopping it up or anything other than dumping it in the pen. Stinky? Hardly enough left in three minutes to stink. Cleaning out the gizmo would be a bit of trouble on its own to stop it from stinking.

Hard pass......

I really like our Mill food recycler. It works really great for our household.

I would normally throw scraps into the run and let the girls destroy them. EXCEPT...they wouldn't destroy them. Instead, they would leave enough behind and it would rot and stink. Then, there would be be flies and smells and slimes. The Mill processes the scraps into a dehydrated form, where I can mix it in with the feed or, if I have excess (which I never seem to) can add it to the compost.

Zero smell in my house. Zero slime in my run. My chickens/ducks respond to the same way to this stuff as they do to me bringing out mealworms. Way fewer flies has been an unexpected bonus. I usually have those fly catcher things in a few places in my yard and they fill up fast. This year, haven't had to hang one yet. The price? Yea. Oof. Like I said though, it was worth it for my household.
