I have GOT to get better pictures!! I took these at dusk...with my phone...just now...lol
I have started from scratch with a pair of typey mottled cochin bantams. (Color could be better.)
And with a Beautiful Red SQ Cochin roo and a Mottled hen. Had to remove the roo for egg eating....ughhhhh!
I only got one colorful F1 baby which is a roo. He is below.
Would he be worth breeding back to a non related mottled hen??

The red roo by his side is a brother.... should I breed him back to a non related mottled hen also??

Oh - I think they are really beautiful! I have read that Mille Fleur D'Uccles should not have any feathers that are solid white. Does the same standard apply to Mille Fleur Cochins? If so would the third picture be considered "too white"?

Honestly - I think all three are gorgeous eiher way

I was just wondering if maybe the first two are more "correct" for Mille Fleur?

I am a total novice with chickens and even more of a novice as I try to learn about this coloring and how it applies to Cochins - but I am really hoping to learn through all of you who have more experience than I do!

The results of my Mfc egg hatching adventures are as follows: one chick out of 12 eggs! Not very good, huh? I also hatched Seramas in the same incubator at the same time and got 11 of 12. To be fair only 8 of the eggs arrived not broken so that's how many were actually in the bator. Are they harder to hatch than other breeds? Anyway the one I got is very cute! I'll try to post a picture on here. The eggs were indirectly Josh S breeding. The chick is blonde with darker color along the back. Not chipmunk striped though.
