Pattern, color & type are looking awesome. Wish we lived closer

OMG! If we lived closer I am afraid we would both be in trouble! So many beautiful birds and I just got into d'Uccles last year, too.
Yup, I would be one over run lady and truly fit that Crazy Chicken Lady title! LOL I just love your birds!

The girl at the top is a lovely girl but I noticed the nicer they are the less eggs I get. My less typy girls are always my better producers and I am sure it has to do with how short and wide they are for their internal plumbing to work well. I hope one day to have it worked out to where I can breed beauty and production in all my girls. None of my boys ever seem to have any trouble!

Hold on to your your "pantaloons", cause after I list my Lemon Blue Cochins (started birds) on FB next weekend, I'm on to my started D'Uccles (weekend of May 5th) for your viewing enjoyment

Oh, for pete's sake! You are going to kill me here! LOL
Actually, I have a friend that lives a few counties away from me that has really gotten into them so I will make sure to send her to your page so she can buy you out! LOL
That way I won't be tempted!
What am I saying....? I WILL be tempted!

Fred's chick is out, Amy! It's dark like my MFC chicks. Only reason I know it's yours is because it has dried on goop. I have a NK pipped. Nothing is happening with the other 6 in my incubator at this point. Bridgette's 10 doesn't seem to be doing anything either. Tonight is the start of day 22, so I will give them some more time. Heck, she may be hiding a chick or two and I not know it, but when I put my hand under her, I only felt eggs.

I hatched 17 of 18 of my own Ameraucana eggs and 7 of my own MFC and BC eggs. So, I know my incubator was functioning well this time. I think shipped hatching eggs are just so difficult...

I understand about shipped eggs. I spent about $1000 on shipped eggs last year to build certain flocks up only to have some eggs never hatch or get very little to hatch so this year I have decided not to put myself in debt.

I hatch from my own birds now and occasionally buy something local but not much.
I did just hatch Cayuga ducklings from shipped eggs. They hatched decent last year but I needed more and got 8 eggs, 7 have hatched so I am tickled. Now if at least 2 could be girls that would be awesome!

I expect Fred's chick to be dark as he is bred to MF/Mottled girls. This will give you some good type to work with and have something to breed to more MF.
Can't wait to see photos!

Well, the Fred baby's goop won't come off. I really tried cleaning it up. The NK chick was shrink wrapped. All the water was gone in the incubator. I had to help the poor baby out. It's trying to get it's feet up under it's self right now. None of the others are going to hatch. They look like they quit on the 15/16th day. I thought they looked wrong at lockdown. There are no babies under Bridgette. If I knew she'd accept these ones, I'd let her have them. I only got 5-6 chicks, so it's not worth it to me to try. So, Amy, I hope you will be selling some more eggs!

I moved eggs around last night since I got my black bantam Cochin eggs and both Milles are broody. I moved my Ameraucana eggs over to the Cochins and put the Cochin eggs under the Silkies. I found a single MFC egg under Millie and I was going to take it. I candled it quick and it's developing - I left it for her. So, that will be another one! I am hoping to get a girl for Milroy, Millie and Milred's pen and I'd like to make another quad. It's hard to breed a project like this when you only have 2 girls to work with. I do have my daughter's MFC frizzle, but I really don't think she's anything special. She started laying at 21wks, which surprised me. The other MFC pullet I had died unexpectedly 2 weekends ago. I have two I know are girls in the brooder but they are only 3-4 weeks old. I have a lot of boys (few I'd actually use)! Just, short on girls...

Reyvaughn, Sounds like some tough going. I've only got two girls too. I've got four boys and need to narrow that down, just need to grow them out a bit before I make any decisions. When should I expect my girls to start laying?

well looks like i'm in the same boat. LOL i've got one roo currently, and the chick that hatched out last week is looking like one too...
