Mille Cochin Info

My MFCs from Erin (Msbear) are the mothers of these chicks I just hatched, and they didn't start until they were 10 and 12 months. I was told that the 'show quality' strains do lay later and don't go broody as often. I don't know if that's true, but wow. These girls held off long enough!

My last little MFC is still alive but has some issues. It's outside toes are curled in and won't spread out, so I made some shoes for it. It's legs aren't spraddled, but because of being in that egg to long, it's like it's hips are twisted. One leg is more ahead of the other - so I taped it's legs up, too. It actually enjoys being held at this point. Poor baby... I'm trying!

Hi all, I just updated the progression pics on my chipmunk striped chick. 2 pages back. :)

took me a bit to find, but here's the link for those (like me) who don't want to go wandering around looking.

Ok so I fell in LOVE with a calico bantam cochin.. BUt what should I breed together to get a frizzled calico bantam cochin? They don't seem to be very easy to find, but are VERY eautiful..
Please let me know combinations so I can start looking for them to buy.

Thnx

This is my first time owning bantam cochins, I hatched my first ones last August and I just love them! I have been buying shipped eggs in different colors for my own enjoyment not showing them or anything. I cannot find the cochin chicks or eggs in my area.
I have tried twice to hatch out shipped calico eggs (more white feathering) and had no success either time. So right now I have milles, calicos, and black mottled in the incubator and are due the 5th but again the 2 calico eggs are clear. So my question is... Can I use the milles to make calicos and what would I breed the mille with to get the calico color or more white feathering? I am horrible at chicken genetics but really like the looks of them with more white feathering. Any info much appreciated!!
Or if anyone is in my area have chicks please PM me, I can't find them anywhere around me.

Amy, Amy, Amy...

I went out to take those eggs from Bridgette since they were due to hatch on Saturday and it's 5 days after hatch day... I pick her up and she was very unhappy about it - more than normal. "Oh! I see why!" One chick hatched today! Now, why are they so late? And why did the ones in the incubator hatch on time?
