My MFCs from Erin (Msbear) are the mothers of these chicks I just hatched, and they didn't start until they were 10 and 12 months. I was told that the 'show quality' strains do lay later and don't go broody as often. I don't know if that's true, but wow. These girls held off long enough!
My last little MFC is still alive but has some issues. It's outside toes are curled in and won't spread out, so I made some shoes for it. It's legs aren't spraddled, but because of being in that egg to long, it's like it's hips are twisted. One leg is more ahead of the other - so I taped it's legs up, too. It actually enjoys being held at this point. Poor baby... I'm trying!
