I just heard that two of my project birds that I sold to a local lady took "blue ribbons" at "the fair". I don't know yet what the blue ribbons were for or whcih fair it was, but I'm pretty pleased anyway!
Sorry I have been silent so long... I have had the baby sickness. Erin, I have no idea how you have done it (G.R.E.A.T. work on the progress page... it looks awesome!). My poor chickens have been suffering from terrible neglect. Hopefully the worst is over! My husband & I thought we would never have kids and were only going to be happy chicken parents but I think all the hatching going on around here had something to do with us finally getting pregnant! Speaking of that... thanks Lynne for the baby chickens and the baby inspiration... the day the Dr. says we conceived it the same day your 15 Mille's hatched! Go Mille's!
Glad to find the new thread! LOVING all of the updated pics. Great job everyone!
We have about five or six roosters too many right now and thought we would post pictures in this thread first to see if anyone was interested. In a day or two if there aren't any takers then we'll post on the buy sell trade page and then on to eggbid or locally.
Rooster No. 5
They are only three & a half months old and have a lot of filling out to do. We would love to keep them all for a couple months more to see how they fill out but for now the crowing is a bit too much to handle. Nothing brings the chicken police to your door quicker than eight Roosters a crowin'. They were all born on May 21st. If anyone is interested in prices or more pictures just shoot me an email.
oooooo...rooster number 5.... I have a couple to unload as well. Im taking them to some shows this Fall and will surely sell them there. I took one to a swap in the Spring up in PA and I had quite a few folks on him as I was unloading him
They'll go quick.
edited for spelling. Gosh!! their, there, they're ...what was that? 5th grade!
Hey y'all. I raise cochins in a few different colors and I came across this thread and just fell in love with the mille coloration on them. Could somebody tell me what color cochins you have been experimenting with to get these beautiful colors? I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

It is soooo good to hear from you!! Congratulations on the wonderful news
I have to agree with Erin that rooster #5 looks like he will be a beauty. I just wish they matured faster as I have a pen full & can't decide who to keep & who's going.
Take good care of yourself & keep us updated on your progress. Erin should be hatching any time!!!
Yes I am just making a bit of space... I am keeping 4 (You all have convinced me to keep No. 5 for a bit longer) to mature a bit more. I only have 6 girls (as of now)! The rooster to hen ratio (and crowing from No. 1 and No. 2) was just a bit too much! We have 2 that look just like No.5... the other one has a bit better coloring and a bit more of a cushion. The other two have GREAT type and 'interesting' coloring!
Wait. Wait. And Wait Some More.
I would like to post in a couple of weeks pictures of the roosters to get some opinions on whom to keep.
This thread is so helpful!
Josh... some of the black silkies are stupendious! I have never seen silkies that look like such PERFECT adults in minature (three inch high) form. I will have to send you a picture. There has been almost NO ackward teenage look at all in two of them. I have never seen anything like it.
