I like the first girl, but the roos i'd have to see better side/front pics of to say for sure...

the other 2 girls, their cushions just aren't there, tho the last one may grow in as she matures, but i'm guessing the other girl is older.
OK then I have a question, I took the First rooster and the hen that you are pertaining to and hatched out a baby. On the Cochin forum, I got a response of "Mixed Cochin". Here's what he looks like: So again How would I get more Mille's if I'm being told using those two are considered mixed??

mille fluer are still at a prototype stage. So mixed is not incorrect. Until they breed true at least. Because the colour is still in development they will throw out colours that are not classified as anything yet. That is what they were referring to in the cochins thread. There is no "standard" image of a mille fleur chick. It still seems to be a gamble on what colour will develop as the chick does. Once the colour breeds true and the genetics are solidified then we might see predictable outcomes from breeding mille fleur. those are my thoughts anyway :)

Quote: IMO the 'mixed' was more because of his tailset and type... aka mixed breed. for that i'd blame your roo. it looked like he had a weird tail, which is why I asked for more pics of the roos.

I could be wrong on the cockerel as far as his true tail set/type, but that pic makes it look very straight and stiff, not cushion like at all. and I got that impression from the first roo too.

Howdy everyone :) I've been lurking around for about 5 months now admiring your birds and learning about this beautiful color that you guys are working on. During that time I have also been acquiring my own group of MF cochins, either as chicks or eggs from Nancy, Lynne and Amy. The oldest ones are just now producing their first chicks, but I have to laugh because my very first "MF" chick is a barred/cuckoo looking pullet LOL, just goes to show it's a work in progress!! The other chicks on the ground are too young to tell what they might turn out like, but it sure is fun!!
Nancy, Lynne and Amy have been invaluable and patient mentors to me as I evaluate all the youngsters growing up right now and make the hard decisions of who to keep and who must go. They are all just so **** cute, and have the best personalities!
These birds below are my oldest, now breeding birds.... all of whom came from Nancy.... you might recognize the names of a few of them... Nancy picks the best names! I have about twenty youngsters still growing out from shipped eggs, and about twenty or thirty newly hatched kids of "my" own ;)
I hope I can become a trusted breeder and assist in improving this color variation in bantam cochins, thank you all for sharing all your progress as you go along, you have produced a stunning bird!!

That is neat! I love your roo. I knew this pattern existed over your way and am so glad you shared with us! We do not get to see much of this work anywhere else.

Moved my MF cockerels to an outdoor pen yesterday. The high weeds are necessary to give the birds a little respite from the unrelenting SD wind.. I'm hoping they'll help give the boys a respite from themselves, too, and maybe they can start growing their tails back...

Gracie was my helper yesterday! You gotta love Cochin roos
