I need a new roo, and soon! I am going to have to retire Millie and Mildred (my original 2 girls) for a while. They are the mothers to the 2 boys I kept and neither have complimenting colors for them. So, they are going to get a break. Not that they have been laying well anyways. Tomorrow is coop cleaning and rearranging day! Since I got rid of all the birds in one pen, and the mottled b.Cochins, I can move birds around and put everyone where I really want them.

Junior is getting a couple new girls and a new pad. Byron is getting all new girls (his daughters) and the same pad. Cee, Amy and Amelia stay as they are. I haven't hatched any of their babies yet, but many are developing in the 'bator. My black bantam Cochins are getting put together and moved. My chocolate Orps are getting moved and the LF chocolate Orp project birds are also getting moved. I thought about putting Millie and Mildred in with the chocolate b.Orps, but I am afraid the cockerel won't be able to keep up with 7 girls... I still may.

Love that Quincy Where was he when I had mine

He is a grandson from your lines on one side! I get darker birds from your bloodlines with mine that I ever got from just mine. All my birds were coming out too light and now I have to try to get that happy medium where they are not too dark like Quincy and not too light like the Summer hen. It isn't easy to work on that while trying to maintain great type, too.
From seeing Lynne's avatar and what you like Bantyman, we should have made this more the norm for our ideals on the MFC. And we may get to that yet since there aren't many breeders still working on this, though we gain a few and lose a few all the time. I know I will not be a part of writing the new standard but I hope to get nice enough birds to take and show in AOV and make people stop and stare! And possibly get motivated to help in creating this.

I could not get good photos of the girls because of all the tall grass. With all the rain lately I haven't been able to mow much and they love all the grass. Anyone that knows my photos knows that I like my birds on fresh ground as much as possible and as much fresh grass as I can give them. The wind was blowing when I took the photos as we had another round of rain coming in. Since dark last night we have gotten an additional 3 inches. Ugh!

You should have stuck with it because you were doing an awesome job! Your birds have always been incredible! Too many wonderful breeders are getting away from it and others are getting into it just to try and sell something with color and try and make money. So sad but they are gorgeous and we must forge ahead!

If I ever do get back working with these guys I might try the large fowl and see what happens with that Even tho that will be a longer road
