I can't wait to see your girl mature, too. It is such a pretty, unique color! Nosipho I think that chick looks like Buff Barred

Wow! That's amazing! I've got some chicks looking like this first pic, I'd better hang on to them! On another note, I got the necropsy back on my Calico looking MF project pullet. She essentially starved to death. I was shocked as my birds are NEVER without food. The doc did find grass in her system and suggested that the grass could have been clogging her up -except she said it in a more suffisticated way. She suggested that I not free range as much?! Whaaaa? I've noticed the cockerel covering these girls stands in the doorway to the coop and doesn't let them down the ramp and outside to the food. I have a second feeder inside the coop as there are 2 Broodys in there, and we have since moved the cockerel to another pen, he this helps. Anyone else ever have your cockerels keep your ladies from feed?

Quote: I love to see what all can be produced from crossing this and that. I get a lot of neat birds but wind up wanting to keep ones I can't really use. My Frizzle pens were starting to take over and I sadly had to sell some of those beauties. I really can't care for 700 birds! It works me to death! And in winter I run short on time to take care of them so something has to go.

This is gorgeous and I can't wait to hear what you are going to bred her to and then we get to find out what she produces. Living vicariously through you!

Sorry to hear about losing your girl.

I lost one to a skunk about a month ago before the Great Pyrenees took care of the skunk. Not before it sprayed the whole side of my Silkie/Cochin shed but that was okay as long as it saved more birds. The dog still stinks.

Wow! She is cool! I likey!

Yes, she is WOW - love this coloring - she's is really pretty

My friend brought her back to me today. The pic actually made her looked a little older & larger. After looking at my records I beleive she came from the 5/22 hatch, so really she is just going on three months. I really excited to see how she matures.

Also, very excited about 4 others I just hatched out (2wks), from this coop and on an interesting note: the more I look at them now, it does appeaer already at two weeks I am seeing more moltting & I think I do see more of a brown base vs. blk. You can bet I'l be holding on to these 4 for a bit : )

this might help with the skunk spray, go and buy a ferret cleaner? i don't know what its called, a friend told me years ago about a product called ferret clean(i don't think they make it anymore) but i had to use it on a boston terrier, took the smell right off of her. since the ferret is a member of the mink family, weasel, maybe cousin to a skunk? anyway the ferrets do have an odor too.

Quote: actually, according to a vet locally, the best thing for skunk spray is to mix a bit of liquid laundry soap with oxyclean (like 1/2 cup each I think?) in a gallon of water (don't put the lid on!) and soak the dog down with it... the oxyclean oxidizes whatever chemical it is that makes the stink. you might google for more info. cat got sprayed couple years ago and I mixed it up and it worked well, but I don't remember the details.

She is 150 lb Great Pyr. It can wear off of her.

I seriously do not have time or energy to wash her. I think she is wearing it like a badge of honor or something.

Only 90?! Bwahahaha I was a t 90 in the spring, now I'm half that...ONLY?

My Dane used to get skunked regularly, we mix 1/4 cup baking soda, 2 tsp of dawn detergent and a quart of peroxide, (add water for large dogs) leave the dog lathered in this for 5 minutes before rinsing, works like a charm.
