Keep in mind you don't want a hen-feathered rooster....

Hi everyone, I hatched out 4 (probably 5) roos from eggs I bought from Lynne... Every single baby was a boy! I am hoping one is a pullet but I am not holding my breath. These guys are so tame, so loving, so wonderful BUT I CAN'T keep roosters where I live. Otherwise I would keep every single one of them.

Does anyone want one or two or five of my baby boys. It breaks my heart to get rid of them but I have no choice.

I do not have current pictures right this moment but I will take some today and post them.

I will meet you halfway somewhere. I will ship if you pay for shipping. But these boys are free to a good home.

Talk to me people!!

What is a "hen-feathered rooster"?

It is my understanding that a hen-feathered roo will have rounded feather tips, instead of pointed feather tips, especially on the neck hackle and tail. The roos in the Sebright breed are hen-feathered, but they are Standardized that way.

I think RareFeathers just may be talking about the 'roo' in Janelle's first pic. Somewhat hard to tell from the pic, but may be either a pullet with a large comb or a hen-feathered roo???

Hmmm, I will have to take a better look at him tonight. His comb is slightly smaller than the other boys, but WAAAAY bigger than the two obvious girls. He "looks" like a boy to me.....I will have to wrangle him again tonight and take a better look and try to get better pictures so you all can decide.

How do you end up with hen feathered roos? Is he destined to be a lawn ornament?

I need more understanding on a hen feathered roo. Why is it bad? Does it pass on to the offspring? Is there something else it causes that is more troubling?

I think there were 2 people working on LF but most of us are doing the bantams. I think there are a lot more options we can find to use to achieve the pattern and colors in bantam.
