Mary,

Thank you so much for the nice words. This is a labor of love. I don't show so I leave it all to you great people to promote this wonderful color & breed. It warms my heart to see "smiles" from the people who have gotten eggs or birds from me. This entire group has become like family & unlike years ago when we had to wait for a letter to arrive to see how everyone was doing, we now have "instant" messages & wonderful pictures. Keep them coming ~!

I just wanted to share some pictures of my new hens that just arrived from Lynne today. I can't possibly express how pleased I am with my new beauties!!! These girls traveled 3,000 miles from Cali to NC in the past 48 hours and regardless they arrived active, alert, and wanting nothing more than to crawl into my lap. I even have the picture to prove it!!
I can't wait to spend more time with them and get to know them better. Now I just have to come up with names for them!!

If you read this, thank you so much Lynne. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you letting me have these special girls and make them a part of my ever growing family!!
Oh, and they apparently really like mulberries as much as they like strawberries!!!!!

Kim,

I am thrilled that they arrived safely & you are pleased.

They must think they have died & gone to heaven as they have "never" seen grass. I can't show these pics to the others in the grow-out pen as they will be saying, "next time, pick me, pick me"~!

They are still young but if they exhibit the type that Bridget has, they will be stunning. Speaking of Bridget......she is now in her 3rd molt & her pattern is awesome on her breast. I will have to get some pics to share. She & Rocky (Red Bantam Cochin) hatched 3 chicks 3 weeks ago & as as luck would have it, all sassy little boys~! But, OH,

the cushions they are already showing! I can't wait for them to get a little more mature as I "think" they are all keepers.

Thank everyone!!

Lynne, I would LOVE to see some photos of the little roosters you are talking about!! Every time I look at my flock I see color that I didn't see before. These birds simply are amazing. I have two Roosters that I was afraid were going to end up being too dark but every day they have a little bit more red coming in. I should probably go ahead and apologize now. I had the camera out to take some pictures of my new girls yersterday and I went a little picture crazy! Now I am simply dying to share them with everyone! I was able to get some pictures of my new chicks that just hatched and the older chicks that I hatched a few weeks ago.

The older chicks so you can see how they have grown.

This is my younger batch. They are just starting to feather up.

This chick is the result of one of my MF roosters over a blue hen. It was born with a neat blue fawn look to it. It has just started to get wing feathers and they have a blue hue to them as well. I'm just going to have to wait and see what he/she does.

This chick is the result of one of my MF hens and that red/partridge rooster that I posted last week. I love the face on this one.

Ok. I'm almost done.

Here are two chicks that I just got from a lady two days ago. She got them from a friend of mine who has been doing some interesting things with crossing different bantam cochin colors. She got them because they were cute but she didn't realize they were bantams. When she figured it out, she asked if I would like to have them. Any guesses on what color these two will end up being???

At first glance I thought this guy was just going to be buff but if you look closely, he has blue feathers coming in on his wings. Strange.

this last guy looks buffish colored to me as well but he has blue streaks here and there. They didn't show up that well in the picture.

After careful consideration, I have decided to sell off my Mille Fleur Cochins to make room for my real passion: Calico Cochins. I fell in love with the beautiful, mostly white sports that kept popping up in the MFC breeding projects and have decided that I am going to work on breeding them in hopes of developing a line that will breed true.

Because of this decision, I will be selling some VERY nice MFCs from some of the top MFC breeders in the country! I have two pairs currently up for auction on Eggbid. The first is Rose and Trouble: both yearlings and nice, typey MFCs. They have given me some really nice chicks (which will also be for sale). I also have a started pair up for auction. They consist of an awesome 5 month old cockerel (with the best color I've seen on a Mille Fleur Cochin rooster) and a proven, one year old hen with nice type, from Lynne's line. These are very nice birds and will get you well on your way to a beautiful flock of Mille Fleur Cochins! Both hens are laying NOW. I do have a Mille Fleur Cochin page (as well as a For Sale page) on my website: Bluff Country Shetlands and Backyard Chickens

I will be selling lots more MFCs besides the ones in the auctions. Email me for more information or photos!

I'll still be active with this thread since my beloved Calicos do spring from the MFC lines...

Happy Holiday Weekend, Everyone!

Are calico cochiins just basically older mille fleurs? like in D'uccles, the older the birds the more white they have one them. And some hens are just whiter depending on bloodlines.
Anyone?
Thx
