Im so excited I got my first egg this morning from my MFC pullet!!!!

They were hatched sometime in June.

ETA I cannot believe she would think about starting to lay...the weather here has been terrible! I guess I have been doing a good job at keeping her warm and coozy

Mine will be 5 mos. old on Jan. 2nd. Guess I have awhile to wait!

Maybe a month now for you right? By 6 months they will lay?...who knows maybe they will surprize you

Can you believe one of my BLRW wants to go broody on me! Its only 26 degree's out. Dont they know its to cold to hatch out chicks!

I found a surprise yesterday morning, too! In my baby pen I have a few MF girls growing up and I found a little egg!

I knew the girls were getting close to age when they could go into a breeding pen but with it being so cold I did not want to stress them with the move. They are not even 6 months old yet. I was very surprised! And just as excited as the first time I found an egg from my first chickens! LOL

I am not going to hatch again until March so I told her she can slow down a bit. We have a little time.

One of my girls just hatched out 5 chicks on Christmas eve. Outside in her pen! It was 30 degrees and snow is on the ground.
