Hello, everyone~Happy Independence Day weekend!

I've been following my Picasso around with a camera today and wanted to share with you. He is 24 mos old now and the "main man" in my mille flock this season.

...I didn't use him much last year and our brooding season is just getting underway here in the mountains, so I'll finally get to see what he comes up with.

He's a fun guy~wherever he is, even free-ranging, he comes when I call his name. My little side-kick!

On another note, I have 2 young mille pullets ("sisters") that are *seriously* brooding one clutch of eggs together. They started out setting near one another in the coop (6 inches apart) and trying to steal each other's eggs all day long, back and forth. After several days of this, they've decided to just share the whole lot of eggs (about 20!) I've tried to break this up and get them each settled in a private spot, but they aren't having it. So I'll just do as they wish...put up a little cage around them, section them off from the flock right where they sit.

Good luck with the chicks! I sometimes have casualties when hens share a nest. They pull the eggs back and forth and then when the chick hatches they try pulling it back and forth and wind up killing it. Other time 2 hens will happily care for one chick between them and wait for others to hatch.
I hope the chicks hatch out beautiful and fuzzy with all their fingers and toes..... I mean feathers and toes!

I am sure they will be gorgeous.

I had 2 share a clutch of eggs and now are sharing the chicks they're doing fine.

I have some cute mille fleur cochin bantam project chicks I hatched from Soggy Bottom Farm eggs. I added photos on my blog at http://tinybirds-seramas.blogspot.com/
One
of them looks like it has barred wings (here's a closeup view):

I assume that will change when it gets older, but it's interesting to watch them changing even at just 1 week old!
