Mille Fleur Leghorn Thread PIC HEAVY

So far I see one chick who may be a roo and another suspicious one but most of them seem to be pullets or so I hope

Has anyone been working on improving this breed? progress? I mainly wanted some milles for a project but I also wanted to improve egg size and coloration. I know some breeders are breeding for "lemon" colors (not my favorite)

FVRM, I think it depends on your outlook. Some might say cull and just keep the average looking amount of white, and after while you will breed out the modifiers that are making the birds whiter. But others will say that it doesn't really matter as long as you aren't getting excessive white all the time. Sometimes it's a good idea to keep a range in your birds, IMO, as long as you are gradually going in the right direction with the breeding. I'd probably be afraid if I started culling the too white birds I'd get them too dark in the end (whether or not that would happen, I don't know, but with my luck . . .)

Things like this are kind of like asking if you like blue or red better. :) It just comes down to how you like to work with your birds. I'm pretty sure there is no right or wrong answer if you are on top of your breeding and stay focused on your goal down the road.

Yeah, I know, not a lot of help. :)
