mille fleur silkies

George's reasoning for breeding the cochin to the polish first (I've had the conversation with him many times) is to get a bird who is close to type, with the crest before crossing to silkies; his belief is that getting the bird back to type takes less time doing it that way than breeding to silkies first.

Have you spoke to george about the project too?
He wants to see how it goes and keep me on track but he dnt wanna do it himself :p

I've spoken to him about breeding mottling into the porcelains for true porcelains, as well as discussing my other projects. George doesn't have birds anymore; his health does not allow, which is a true shame.

I included the whole making true porcelains thing in the origional email and when I spoke with him he said "this is bull s** who tells u such things? U see my porcelains? I have perfected them! 1/8 buff and 7/8 lavender! They r beautiful, these ppl lie!" I was like... "Ok.." Hahah
He also showed me pics of some 2011 juv silkies and said that I can get some to help me make $ to fund my project. So he still has birds.
just prolly not as many

He will admit that his don't have mottling. There are a lot of silkies that people call porcelain that are not what George created. Wish he'd had several years longer at breeding them before his health went down--I think that would have kept them at the quality that he created.

then why doesn't he just call them isabells...??? that's kind of fail...

i have been making silver porcelains by accident... i feel bad calling them porcelains since they aren't red dilutes or buff whatevers... but i can't call them silver mottled columbian lavenders... but they're closer to porcelains than isabells...

btw... porcelains are my favorite coloration of OEGB... i got a trio of self blue, and a trio of mille fleur hoping that it would be a project for me to make porcelains... lucky me that my MF trio is split for self blue... Woo Hoo... it was an amazing surprise when i hatched one out... i did snoopy dance and everything... LOL... now i have a lavender silver duckwing project in mind...
