MILLIE FLUER COCHINS

Quote:
I have Mille Fleur Project hatching eggs available to ship.

Anyone who is familar with this color knows that it is a work in progress. I have F1 hens laying now. My F2's are in the grow-out pen & I will have F3 eggs available later in the year.

My breeders are a MFC Roo from Tennessee & 3 hens produced from a cross with the same MFC Roo & 2 Buff Columbian Hens from Tom Roebuck. I sent pics of the F1's to Tom & he had this comment on my hen Bridget:

Bridget: Very nice, and probably the one most genetically Mille Fleur. Focusing on her chest she has pretty decent base color there, with decent distribution of the Black band between the Buff ground color and the white tips. True she does darken up as you go toward her cushion but the pattern is still there! If her white markings were limited only to the tips of her feathers she would almost be there as far as the Mille Fleur pattern goes. I think she's the closest in pattern I've seen on a Cochin in the US.

Here are pics of Bridget, Peggy & Suzie along with pics of my MFC roo.

its good to see you are working on type and not worried about color most people breeding milli cochins are worried about color and end up with god color and birds that look nothing like a cochin

New to breeding, so smack me if I seem estoopido - here's what I doin -
I am actually breeding for Frizzle Mille Fleur D'Uccles - Mr. Frizzy is a Frizzled Mille Fleur D'Uccle and I am breeding him with the pure Mille Fleur D'Uccle hens for some Frizzle Mille Fleur D'Uccles. The Mille Fleur Cochins and the mixed hens are in with Mr. Frizzy more as an ???, and people can have the offspring, take em or leave em - - I am not selling or promoting anything but as a possible cute bird with poofy pants. I only ask people help me with cost of the shipping, gee, I'm even running out of packing stuff, but I like to send stuff out, so I'll keep doing it!

I have a separate Mille Fleur Cochin flock actually not to be mixed with the D'Uccles - they really are totally separate breeds, I understand. I actually do like the Mille Fleur Cochins as much or more than the D'Uccles though - I think you said on another thread you had gotten some of your flock back? I would be very interested in improving my lines of pure Mille Fleur cochins. Mr. Frizzy is more of an evil attempt at creating Frizzled Mille Fleurs - he just happens to be a D'Uccle?

Thank you, Tate - I appreciate your knowledge, I know you have a lot of experience in breeding and know what you're talking about - I respect that completely! And there are some breathtaking Mille Fleur Cochins out there!

tina, thanks for the offer, but i'm gona try to hold out for pure cochins. i've got a pen that i have some decent birds myself from judy g. and a few others, but no millies mine are blue, splash, mottled. one of my roos and a hen are frizzled, but if i could even find some buff columbian to put into the recipe!!!if anyone wants to come by and get a few eggs to hatch from mine i'll share.....i've got a few under a silkie just to see what i get myself.
i don't think i could pay the $50.00 a dozen right now either, i'm out of
work due to surgery and 4 months pregnant. later, i will have 4 or 5 hens
(2 ameracanas and 2 marans) i would trade for a breeding pair if anyone is interested. i will keep an eye out for you guys too since everyone seems to be looking too.

No problem!

I dont have my Mille Fleur Cochins - the Pure Mille Fleur Cochins - separated yet - I have them - just not doing the deed! When I do, if you like - the same deal applies.....I dont mind sharing?

Take care - and now I'm off to see who PM'd me first to get all these eggs? Lotsa people seem to be wanting free eggs, so not a issue! Just wanted to give you dibs! Do you want me to take you off of Mr. Frizzy's list, or put you down for a later date? I did set up his pen sooner than I had planned, and these are my "test hatches" ?

Let me know...
Tina
